LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
June 21st was a great day. Why? Because, 125 Operation Care supporters came to our first Summer Solstice Celebration at Sutter Ridge Winery in Sutter Creek. These folks enjoyed wonderful appetizers, delicious entrees and wine while listening to The Box Music Family. They enjoyed bidding on fantastic silent auction items and buying raffle tickets for more wonderful prizes. Thanks to all who came to support our new Fresh Start program. With your support, we netted over $4,700 to help women and their children transition from our Safe House into their own apartments. Thanks to all! We really could NOT have done it without you!!
If you'd like to help Operation Care, please consider joining our Board. We are always looking for talented, enthusiastic volunteers to support the staff in their mission. The Board meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Operation Care offices. We also invite you to come to a board meeting as a guest. Our meetings are always open to the public. For more information about the Board or supporting Operation Care, email either Tammie Crabtree, Executive Director at tammie@operationcare.org or me at lzender@gmail.com.

Staff Spotlight - Jamie Hicks
 |
Jamie Hicks
Program Specialist
|
Hello everyone, my name is Jamie Hicks. I am a recent transplant to Amador County and I love it. I have spent the last 10 years as a certified nurse's assistant and currently working on a degree in Psychology. I have always had a desire to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and have wanted to find a place that I could do just that. I began taking classes at Operation Care to become a volunteer in hopes at some point becoming an employee. I was asked to be part of the Operation Care team and had no hesitation to accept. As of May, 2014 I am a Program Specialist with Operation Care. I feel honored to be a part of such a wonderful group of women and look forward to learning new experiences, but most of all helping people in our community. I feel I have finally found my path and cannot wait to see what amazing things are in my future.
Welcome to Operation Care, Jamie!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month Highlights
April was Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and folks around the county came out to show support by wearing teal and participating in various events. While we realize it was a few months back, we thought you might enjoy some of the photos.
On Denim Day, April 23, Operation Care had three booths throughout the county: Pine Grove, Sutter Creek and Jackson with information about Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Denim Day and Operation Care. We also handed out Denim Day T-Shirts and teal-colored goodies. We would like to thank everyone that was able to make it out to our booths!
Our teal shirts with this year's theme "It's Time to Talk About It" were worn or displayed at Behavioral Health, Public Health, Social Services, Amador County Probation, First 5, WIC, ARC of Amador, Jackson PD, Ione PD, and Sutter Creek PD, and the girls at Jon's Pit Stop, among others.
