Summer Youth Program a Success!
We are finishing up the 8 week summer youth program with only 3 classes left. Participants have experienced a number of activities and have been educated on topics that teens are facing such as bullying, drugs/alcohol, healthy relationships, and so much more! We have had a great outcome with participation and look forward to having another youth program next year! Thank you to the Edge Gym, Novella Springer from UC Davis Extension, Health in Harmony, and Calaveras ROP for helping make our program a success! For more information, call our office at 223-2897.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Watch for our upcoming DV Awareness Month activities. More details will be provided in our next newsletter!
Cycle of Violence-
The Cycle of Violence is a multi-sensory exhibit, giving visitors the opportunity to see, hear, and experience domestic violence from the victim's perspective. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The exhibit will run from October 14th to October 25th from 8-5 pm at Operation Care, 619 New York Ranch Rd, Jackson, CA. This exhibit is intended to increase awareness about the effects of domestic violence.
Soldier Run-
Every October, Operation Care places purple silhouettes in various locations around Amador County. The silhouettes serve as a representation of the domestic violence victims we serve. We would like to bring these "Purple People" to life and walk together as "Purple Soldiers" against Domestic Violence and we plan on accomplishing this through a glow in the dark fun run/walk. For more information please contact us at 223-2897.
Purple People-
Look for the purple people around Amador County for the month of October. The silhouettes are a visual representation of the domestic violence victims we serve. We hope that by placing the silhouettes throughout the county, that we are bringing awareness to our community and helping victims to know that they are not alone.

Staff Spotlight - Barbara Gunter
 | Barbara Gunter - Shelter Specialist |
Barbara began working at Operation Care in September 2012 as a part-time shelter assistant and worked her way to becoming a Shelter Specialist. She became a Certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor in April 2013. She works with victims of domestic violence and their families, providing peer counseling and support services during their time in our shelter program, as well as community outreach and education.
"My passion is helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and through my job I am able to give back to others who need a helping hand," said Barbara. "In October I started to work full-time and I really enjoy being able to help the community through helping victims but also helping educate people about the services we provide and where to go for help. I am looking forward to learning more about the movement and how to keep educating our community on the importance of living a non-violent life".
During her off-time, Barbara likes to spend time with her family, and relax.
Good work, Barbara!
