Thousandth tree to be planted at Canopy's Willow Oaks School planting celebration
In 2011, Canopy launched its Healthy Trees, Healthy Kids! initiative, partnering with The Ravenswood City School District to plant 1,000 new trees on local school campuses while supplementing the District's classroom environmental science curriculum. A year ahead of schedule, the 1000th tree will be planted on March 29 at a community celebration and planting event at Willow Oaks School.
This capstone tree planting represents an awesome community achievement--the culmination of four years of tree planting efforts at 27 area schools and parks, reaching over 6,000 school children with the help of 1,600 community volunteers.
