Volunteers Needed for SOD Blitz--June 1st

Last year hundred of volunteers in California helped Cal researchers determine that sudden oak death is moving into our cities faster than expected. We need your help this year. Please volunteer for Palo Alto's SOD blitz.
 
SOD-BLITZ VOLUNTEER TRAINING
Date:  Saturday, June 1st
Time: 10-11am
Place: Carriage House, Holbrook Palmer Park, 
150 Watkins Avenue, Atherton, CA
Who:  Dr. Matteo Garbelotto, UC Berkeley researcher
 
LEAF COLLECTION
Collect leaves anytime over the weekend. Leaf samples must be returned by Sunday evening. Canopy will provide routes to be surveyed in Palo Alto.
 
TIME REQUIRED
2-3 hours
 


TREE WORKSHOP:  The Art of Young Tree Pruning--June 15th

Learn the art of young tree pruning with leading arborist Brian Kempf.

Date:  Saturday, June 15th
Time:  8:30am-12:30pm
Place: Lucille M. Nixon Elementary School, 
1711 Stanford Ave, Stanford, CA 94305
Bring:  Pruning shears and gloves will be available, but if you have your own, please bring them. 
Requirement:  In exchange for this free workshop, please sign up for a follow-up training/community service day to prune young trees, practice your skills, and receive feedback from trainers.
