Travel with GSKSMO

Whether you're just getting started or you're an experienced jet-setter, a new adventure is waiting for you with Council-Sponsored Trips! These opportunities unite Girl Scouts from around our council and whisk them away to locations where they will learn, grow and foster their love of Girl Scouts while accompanied by GSKSMO staff members. Most trips are girl only, but some have limited spots available for additional adult chaperones. 


Europe
Summer 2017
Three European cities, two WAGGGS Centres, one amazing tour. Girl Scouts will experience the best of both worlds as incredible adventures take them through the bustling streets of London, Paris, and high up into the Swiss Alps. At Pax Lodge and Our Chalet, girls will participate in special pinning ceremonies - making their visits forever memorable and meaningful.

Outdoor Experiences Excursion: Rocky Mountain National Park
Summer 2017
Pack your bags and your backpacks and head to the great Rocky Mountains with our GSKSMO outdoor team! This six day, five night trip will have you experiencing the great Rocky Mountain National park, earning your Girl Scout Ranger and Cadette Trail Blazer badge, doing service projects in the national park and will connect you with other Girl Scouts from our council!

Girl Scout Convention: Columbus, OH
October, 2017
Travel to Columbus, Ohio with your council Girl Scout sisters and staff to attend the Girl Scout National Convention - G.I.R.L. 2017 - where you will meet, learn grow and celebrate with thousands of other Girl Scouts from around the world!

Dominican Republic 
Summer 2018

Explore our strongest local connections and partnerships in an exciting visit to the Dominican Republic. With the help of many local organizations and service themes, girls have the opportunity to impact issues ranging from gender equality to generational poverty to eco-tourism. It's an unforgettable way to explore island life while making a meaningful difference in the community.


Girl Scout Destinations

Do you have a love of Girl Scouts, traveling and trying new things?! Then the Girl Scout destinations program is for you! Girls who participate in this program return with new friends and memories to last a lifetime. The first round of applications are due by 
Nov. 15!

Kansas City Public Library

The Kansas City Public Library has exciting, hands-on programs for teen Girl Scouts! Learn how to use 3D software, go behind the scenes of video production, explore the impact of various media avenues and more! All their programs are You Schedule It! so find a time that works for your troop and get something scheduled with them!

Scholarship & Community Engagement Opportunities

Did you know there are multiple scholarship opportunities for graduating Girl Scouts and Gold Award recipients?! Check them out! 

Have you or your troop completed a Take Action Project? Then apply for The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards! This award honors students in grades 5-12 who make meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. Prudential offers top honorees cash prizes and all-expense-paid trips to Washington, DC, for four days of national recognition events. 

SevenDays Make a Ripple, Change the World Scholarships
Project and essay competition to reward 2016 high school seniors who will take one or more of our seven themes; Love, Discover, Others, Connect, Go, You, Onward, and apply them to a lasting project that will start a ripple and change the world. Five scholarships will be given for higher education tuition in the amount of $1,000 each.

Fee: There is no registration fee for KC area teams. Black & Veatch is pleased to cover this expense for up to nine teams to ensure it is not a barrier to qualified contestants.
Deadline: Interested teams should contact Annemarie Kirby at [email protected] to be notified when registration opens. Deadline to register is January 27, 2017.
Limit: Registration for this regional contest is limited to 9 teams.
Team Composition: Each team must have a non-student Team Leader, and must be comprised of at least three eligible members (ages 11-14). Maximum team size is 10 people.

About Linger, your Teen Newsletter!

Linger is Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri's monthly Teen Newsletter. 
 
The name, Linger, was inspired by the traditional Girl Scout Camp song

 "Mmhmm, I want to linger. 
Mmhmm, a little longer. 
Mmhmm, a little longer, 
Here with you." 

As you grow through Girl Scouts, we want to keep you engaged with all the amazing things you get to do as Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. 
Linger will keep you up to date about events, activities, travel, career exploration, leadership and service opportunities!
