Did you know that the majority of female entrepreneurs credit their start to the Girl Scout Cookie Program? It's true! And with the largest girl-led business in the world, we know your young entrepreneur is building important business skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics!
How is your Girl Scout doing toward her individual and troop goals? Is she working toward the award at 300 boxes, two tickets to Girl Scout Day at the K or going even higher? Is her troop working toward a goal for a fun group activity and/or money toward a service project. See all the awards for this year's program.
There is still plenty of time, especially as we begin the booth sales season in February! Girl Scout Cookie customers are always looking for another box or two. With your support, your Girl Scout can certainly achieve the goal she has set! We have so many Cookie Program resources you can access through our website (like booth sale signage, Pinterest ideas for decorating a booth or delivery wagon and ways to keep reaching for goals).
We want to hear how your Girl Scout is doing! As she gets ready for a Cookie Booth or delivers her cookies to customers, we would love to see photos and hear all the creative ideas she is using to reach toward her goals! How can we enhance the experience? Your feedback is so valued - let us know!
St. Patrick's Day Parade & GSKSMO
GSKSMO will once again be marching and entering a float in the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17, 2016. The parade begins at 11:00am and runs from Broadway to Linwood to 43rd st.
GSKSMO will again pay the entry fee and provide busing to the parade location. Patches will also be provided.
If your Brownie or Daisy is aiming for her highest awards, you don't want to miss these events! This year we are launching our Inspire A Girl event to celebrate Girl Scout Highest Awards (Bronze, Silver & Gold). The Day of Service takes place March 12 and is a collective day of service around our council. There is also an opportunity to schedule a project and still earn the special patch!
Our Daisy & Brownie Girl Scouts and volunteers are amazing and we love to share their stories. Check out a recent blog story about Daisy & Brownie troop leader Sherry Quinn! This Girl Scout grandmother and Marine veteran is such an inspiration! And stories of girls reaching new heights - like that of Brownie troops 3090, 898, 0065 and 4115 (Platte City & KCMO) who adventured to the Cosmosphere earlier this month! What a cool way to explore STEM! Go Girl Scouts!!
If your Daisy or Brownie loves to give back to children in the community, this is a great project to read about! Community Partner, The Kid Stitch, is hosting an event called Henry's Haul, now through March 2016. This is a donation drive for new, single packed toy cars for youth patients at Children's Mercy Hospitals. It's great way for Girl Scouts to give to back to other kids.
We have 100+ Community Partnersserving Girl Scouts all over our region, many of which can be done by girls individually or with their family! We encourage you do these fun activities together!
Did You Know?
95% of Girl Scouts who participated in the Girl Scout Cookie Program can't wait to do it again next year! With 96% reporting that selling cookies was SO MUCH FUN, it's no wonder why girls want to keep developing business skills.
