It's Spring and Time to Get Outside...
Favorite Troop Camping Activities

Thanks for all the great S'MORE and photo submissions of your favorite troop camping activities. Keep those stories and photos coming by sending to prdept@gsksmo.org or posting to our Facebook page.

We are so proud to spotlight Brownie Troop 231 from Lawrence, Kansas and their Troop Leader Elizabeth Mechem. These girls have enjoyed getting outside since they were Daisy Girl Scouts! Of course, they enjoy all the traditional camp activities including s'mores with cherry pie filling, an idea from one of the girls! The review - a very delicious treat!

What we loved most about this troop's story was the added service element to their fun camp-out. The troop planted and now tends to their garden, and as they hike remove invasive plants around the property. Taking care of their favorite camping spot is what it is all about! Great job, Troop 231!

The photo was taken on a recent camping troop when a local fireman joined the girls to show how to safely start a fire.

Join Troop 231 in the last S'MORE spotlight of the 2014 membership year by answering the question: What are your best Bridging & Court of Award ideas? Send your story to prdept@gsksmo.org by April 28 to be featured in the May 7 S'MORE.

 Are your Girl Scouts Bridging?

Bridging awards mark a girl's transition from one leadership level to the next. During the spring, many troops are working on their Bridging Awards.

Visit GSUSA's website for the requirements for each program level. Also visit our new Pinterest Boards on Bridging and Court of Award ideas.

Wonders of Water at Camp Tongawood

Brownie Girl Scouts come explore the Wonders of Water at Camp Tongawood. Girls will do several activities dealing with the water cycle, water quality and they will learn some problem solving skills along the way.  This program enhances the Wonders of Water journey, but would be an engaging program for any Girl Scout who wants to learn about how to conserve Earth's resources.

There are two open sessions still available this spring. Visit our website to find out more and register your troop today.
