Camping 101 and 102 | |
Camping 101 is now offered as an online training that you can take at your convenience! Topics include how to involve girls in the planning process, what equipment to bring, safety, overview of camp properties and much more.
Completion of the Camping 101 course qualifies adults to take a group camping in a building (heated with basic amenities). Although only one adult in each camping group is required to take the training, we encourage all adults who will be supervising the group to take this free online training.
Camping 102 will continue to be an in person training with hands-on activities like methods of fire-building, outdoor cooking, dishwashing, knots and more. Completing Camping 102 qualifies adult volunteers to take girls on camp-outs, where the girls will be cooking outdoors and sleeping in a platform tent, perma-tent, A-frame tent or a pitched tend on a primitive campground.

Cookie Materials Survey Available Now
GSKSMO Program Survey Coming in February | |
ABC Bakers, our GS cookie baker partner has released a survey for volunteers about this year's Cookie Program resources. These resources included the glossy program book with goal poster inside. Each troop should have received one of these at the beginning of the sale (usually at your service unit's cookie training). Go to the ABC website now and begin the survey. The survey is available through February 1.
In addition, we want your feedback on this year's Cookie Program. Watch for four different surveys: girl, parent, troop leader / cookie manager and SU PSM. Our surveys will be available beginning the week of February 4. Watch the next S'MORE for the survey links.

| Letterboxing and Geocaching Programs | |
There are some great opportunities for girls to get into STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs through letterboxing and geocaching. We offer programs to help Brownies work toward their letterboxing badge and Juniors work toward their geocacher badge. Check out what is available now.
If a troop has interest in doing more work with letterboxing and geocaching, a troop leader or other adult volunteer may take a council training to learn how ot lead the programs independently. Once the adult training is complete, a troop can check out the materials for either program (compasses, GPS handheld units) through our headquarters office. This is a great option if you wanted to do the activities at a troop meeting or camp-out. Visit our website for available adult training dates.
