June 24, 2016
Hello

The final week of June is upon us. I hope you had so much for at the Solstice Parade and hung out for the Solstice Fair. Even if it's a bit gloomy today, summer has officially hit. Be sure to show your support this weekend for our LGBT brothers and sisters at Seattle Pride Parade Sunday, July 26th at 11 am. With the recent events we need to all show our love for one another more than ever. What better way to celebrate than with a parade? It's definitely parade season; with Solstice last weekend, pride this weekend, and June 9th is the Wallingford Family Parade presented by the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce and the Boys & Girls Club. Dress up in your craziest outfits and bring the whole family! The Parade starts at 11 am and weaves through Wallingford.

On a Fremont Chamber related note we have a tech walk July 18 at 11 am. Let us know if you would like to join the walk. We guide you through "Silicon Canal" where you get to share information on company reader boards about events, promotions, and specials you are running at your business. Also you are welcome to join us Wednesday at the Fremont Chamber office for our monthly Chamber board meeting. You can learn about our board, what we're up to, and share your voice. The meeting will start at 8:30 am.

I am sad to say I will be leaving my position with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce at the end of this month. The blast will be handed off to Trisha Rarey, who many of you already know. It's been an absolute pleasure working for the chamber, and I will definitely still be around in the community.

Have a great weekend!

July Fourth, We Salute Veterans Who Own Small Businesses

Independence Day is right around the corner. As the preparation begins for Fourth of July festivities, it's important to recognize the contributions that veterans have made not only while in service, but as business owners. It is their know-how and leadership experience that make these men and women exceptional entrepreneurs.

The following five essential resources can connect the dots between service experience and business ownership success:

  1. SBA Veteran-Owned Business Guide
  2. Operation Boots to Business
  3. Business Resources for People With Disabilities
  4. Office of Veteran Business Development (OVBD)
  5. Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs)
