April 15, 2016
Hello

How is it already April 15th? Next Wednesday is our Homeless, Housing, and Hazard Safety Meeting at Giddy Up Burgers and Greens. This has been a hot topic in our neighborhood for a while now, so it's important that you show up to learn about ways to keep our neighborhood safe. Let's work together to keep our Fremont neighborhood awesome by coming together as a community and working through these issues as a team. Be sure to register if you haven't yet!

Tons of events going on this week. The Fremont Health Club is offering a variety of fitness workshops. Check our calendar to see what classes are right for you and your fitness style, and email Kris to register or inquire about classes. Lots of music all week at Stone Way Cafe, Nectar Lounge, Dusty Strings, First Free Methodist Church, and Fremont Abbey. If you have children Hale's Palladium is hosting Storybook Theater's play 'Sleeping Beauty'; get your tickets for the weekend.

I recently got word that there is a 1900 sq ft creative studio space available for lease at 3625 Woodland Park Ave North 190. Maybe you've been wanting to relocate or bring a friend into our community; Contact space@capitalpacific.com for more information on the location. Also, I mentioned it in our community corner, but Seattle is doing a push to encourage more businesses to put up parklets and streateries. Maybe you have noticed the streatery in front of Molly Moons in Wallingford or the parklet at Bulldog News in the University District. As the weather improves and people look for places to spend time outside, now is a perfect time to think about hosting your own parklet or streatery! Parklets and streateries are a great way to activate streets and create attractive community gathering places for your business or neighborhood. Consider applying here. How cool would it be to have some of these in Fremont?

Have a great weekend!

Hi New Members!

Community Corner:
Parklet and Streatery Programs

Seattle is a city with a limited number of parks and open spaces. It's also a quickly growing city. Parklets provide valuable privately-funded and maintained public spaces for people to read, sip a cup of coffee, and socialize. Parklets convert on-street parking spaces into community gathering places, creating more vibrant commercial districts. Streateries are a new way to support these goals while also responding to the demand for more outdoor café seating in Seattle, particularly in areas where sidewalks are too narrow for sidewalk cafés.
