August: Time to Give Your Trees a Checkup!
Tree - branches
The days are starting to get shorter and summer will end in not much more than a month! Soon it will be time to get out warmer clothes and jackets. Even though fall will be arriving soon and winter will follow, late August is a good time to give your outdoor trees a check up. With that in mind, head outdoors to soak up the last bit of the summer sun and give your trees a thorough check up.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has officially named the month of August Tree Check Month. The USDA recommends tree owners to get outside and take a look at their trees for just 10 minutes. In such a small amount of time, you could save your tree's life.

Much like homegrown tomatoes and many other vegetables, beans' flavor diminishes in storage, which is why fresh from the garden is notably more delicious than store-bought.

Learn about the different kinds of beans, when to start sowing, and harvesting and storing methods in the Botanical Interests newest sow and grow guide for beans. Click here for the guide.

Adoptable cat Pepper from Franklin County Humane Society Featured Adoptable Pet

Hello, my name is Pepper. I am a sweet and gentle little 4 month old girl. I am a little shy at first, but since I have been treated so kindly here at the Franklin County Humane Society, I have come to learn that being petted is a great thing. So I have become very loving and love to meow in my tiny little soft meow voice. Please come take me home for more loving.
       Yours, Pepper
