It is time for the
Washington Town & Country Fair!
 Come visit our booth at the fair Wednesday, August 3 through Sunday, August 7, 2016! Kids can make a picture to hang on the wire wall in our booth. See our creative displays and learn about plants, gardening, growing food, helping our pollinators and more.
(We do not have a First Saturday Kids Activity in August since the First Saturday is during the fair. See you at the fair! )

FUN FACTS!
Watermelon is summer's most popular vegetable. It is part of the cucumber, pumpkin, and squash family. The average American eats 15 pounds of watermelon a year and these juicy favorites are 92 percent water.
The idea for a Frisbee came from college students
tossing empty pie plates from the Frisbie Baking Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The birth flowers for August are the gladiola and the poppy.

FALL Gardening!
Did you know? Several flower and vegetable plants grow better in the cool season of fall, which will be arriving soon. You can grow broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce and more in the fall vegetable garden. Pansies, snapdragons, violas, sweetpeas, and more are good varieties for a fall flower garden. It is time to start seeds for for cool season fall varieties now. Come by and see us for seeds and supplies to start your own fall flower and vegetable gardens!
