* Turn off all the lights when you leave a room.

* Recycle plastic, metal, glass, paper and cardboard at a recycling center or curbside where available.

FUN FACTS ABOUT EARTH!
DID YOU KNOW...

Art picture of the Earth       The Earth's rotation is gradually slowing at approximately 17 milliseconds per hundred years, although the rate at which it occurs is not perfectly uniform. This has the effect of lengthening our days, but it happens so slowly that it could be as much as 140 million years before the length of a day will have increased by one hour to 25 hours.

The Earth was once believed to be the center of the universe: Due to the apparent movements of the Sun and planets in relation to their viewpoint from Earth, ancient scientists insisted that the Earth remained still, while other objects in space travelled in circular orbits around it. Eventually, the view that the Sun was at the center of the universe was speculated by Copernicus, though this is also not the case.

Earth has a powerful magnetic field: This phenomenon is caused by the nickel-iron core of the planet, coupled with its rapid rotation. This field protects the Earth from the effects of solar wind.

The Earth is the densest planet in the Solar System: This varies according to the part of the planet; for example, the metallic core is denser than the crust. The average density of the Earth is approximately 5.52 grams per cubic centimeter.

Joke Time
  Laughing smiley face emoticon
The 1st of every April is
"April Fools Day!"
It is a fun day for telling jokes
and playing pranks
on
friends and family members.

Here are a couple of ideas:

Place a fake bug or critter somewhere it will surprise someone like in a drawer, chair or bed. When they jump, say "April Fools!"

You could put a stuffed animal or toy under a family members arm when they are sleeping (like a cute fuzzy teddy bear for Dad). When they wake up, tell them that they had been begging for the item (fuzzy teddy bear) in their sleep and snuggled it when you gave it to them. After they think about for a little while, say "April Fools!"

Now's a good time to plant trees, shrubs and cool season flowers and vegetables. Ask our staff what varieties are good to plant now. Our Nursery and Greenhouse are filling up with lots of pretty plants! Bring Mom and Dad by so you can see them all!
