It is hard to believe that Christmas is coming so fast. As you prepare for family and friends, remember the reason for the season. And know that the Hillermann family and employees want to wish you a very Blessed, Merry Christmas!!

Colorful Plants for the Holidays

These blooming plants are perfect for brightening up your home over the holiday and winter season. We've even included some quick tips for taking care of them.

Christmas Cactus

Christmas cactus prefers bright, indirect sunlight. After Christmas cactus buds have set, water liberally when soil is dry. The ideal temperature is between 55 - 70 degrees.

Cyclamen

Cyclamen like a bright room away from direct sunlight. Keep soil evenly moist. These plants prefer cooler temperatures around 50 - 60 degrees.

Poinsettia

The poinsettia is a favorite for the holidays. Place them in a spot that will get bright direct sunlight. Allow soil to become moderately dry between watering. Average home temperature away from a direct heat source is best.

Santa at Hillermann's

Saturday, December 12
11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The wonder and excitement only Santa can bring comes alive at Hillermann's! Children are invited to experience the thrill of visiting with Santa and telling him their Christmas wishes. You can even bring your pets to see Santa. See a Dove Release at 11:00 am. YHTI Internet will take and print pictures for you to take home. Children can enjoy holiday crafts and activities. In the giving spirit of the season, we request donations to Loving Hearts Outreach and Grace's Place for this event.

Mini Garden Make-N-Take Workshop

Saturday, December 19
at 10:00 am

Mini Gardens are a fun way to create a miniature landscape in a container. Create your own Mini Garden to take home. A container, plants and mini decor items are included in a $40.00 supply fee. Please call 636-239-6729 to sign up.

One very popular Missouri pastime during the cold winter months is bird watching. Birds can be drawn to an apartment complex balcony as well as a 40 acre open farm! No matter where you are, you can create the perfect bird paradise! All you need are a few essentials to make your back yard absolutely beautiful with colorful birds against the white snowy backdrop! Here are a few tips to drawing the most beautiful birds Missouri has to offer right to your backyard! As any living creature, birds need HOUSING to protect them from the cold wintry elements. Clean and Sanitize your current bird houses or come browse our store for new ones! We have several for you to choose from. Birds need lots of FOOD during the cold months to keep them warm. Offering different types of seed and suet will attract a larger variety of birds. We have many types of bird food available in our store! One more thing is needed to make your winter birding a success. Our feathered friends need flowing WATER to insulate their feathers. We have heated bird baths and heaters to heat bird baths you already have! Turn your yard into a winter birding paradise TODAY!

Kids during a Pot Party at the Pot Shop inside Hillermann Nursery and Florist

Visit the Pot Shop in the Garden Center at Hillermann Nursery & Florist. Watch the artists at work creating one of a kind hand made pottery and browse our finished pieces! See pottery in all the different stages of creating, firing and glazing! There is always something new to see just created by the Pot Shop staff.

Several types of Christmas gift ideas are available at the Pot Shop. From creative pottery to add to home decor, to useful handmade kitchenware, handmade pottery can be a great choice. Pot Shop gift cards can also be used for finished items, classes or membership. Come by and ask the staff for more information.

Will the kids be off from school over the holidays? Keep them busy for a while by scheduling a Pottery Party! Everyone gets to make their own personalized piece of pottery (such as a mug or bird house). We provide all the materials - all you need to bring is your imagination. Enjoy visiting with friends while you get creative! Ideal for birthday parties, scout groups, or just a fun get together while family is in town for the holidays. Cost is $25.00 per person.
