Dear Friends,
The holidays are a pleasant memory, so what do we have to look forward to now? Spring, of course! Trucks are rolling in every day with piles of great new things, and we are working to get them on display as we speak. Visit us and browse our departments for all the new and exciting items we have available for you.
* Fairy and Miniature Garden goodies: the fun continues as this hobby keeps growing. Lots of new figurines, tiny furniture, and little houses to spark your imagination.
* Seed tapes from Botanical Interests. This new product is easy to use: simply cut the tape to the length of your row, cover lightly with soil and water. The biodegradable tape assures that the seeds are properly spaced and in place until they take root. Available in single varieties or mixes and assortments of herbs, vegetables, and flowers. Botanical Interests seeds are non-GMO and include many organic and heirloom varieties.
* Unique and interesting houseplants to brighten your home or work area: Improve your air quality and mood with some living color!
* And so much more!!
* Check out our greenhouse... we have geraniums started!! Spring is coming...
It's like Christmas continues every day (maybe without all the glitter and bows) as we unpack and discover what our friendly delivery drivers have brought today. If you're in need of a little pick-me-up, stop in and take a look at what's popping up for spring today!

Mourning Dove
Basics: Mourning Doves are light grey and brown and generally muted in color. Males and females are similar in appearance. These are called Mourning Doves because of the mournful cooing sound they make.
Housing: A platform is most ideal for attracting mourning doves. The base should be 8 inches by 8 inches, with a ceiling height of 8 inches. Mourning doves are ground birds, for feeding and even nesting. They may also nest in shrubs within several feet off the ground.
Food: Seeds make up 99 percent of a Mourning Dove's diet, including cultivated grains and even peanuts, as well as wild grasses, weeds, herbs, and occasionally berries. They sometimes eat snails. Mourning Doves eat roughly 12 to 20 percent of their body weight per day, or 71 calories on average.
How to attract: Running water, millet, and platform houses are SURE to draw mourning doves to your property!
Fact: These birds are Monogamous. Both parents incubate and care for their young. You will rarely see a mourning dove without his/her partner nearby.
Winter feeding Tip: Site feeders in locations that offer birds shelter from wind and snow. Mourning Dove is a slower moving bird, shelter from raptor predators to the feeders is really important. This includes thick shrubs and evergreens as well.

Mini Plants Miniature plants can be used in a variety of ways. They work great in cute little containers, terrariums, and of course in fairy gardens. The joy of miniature gardening is the blend of crafting and gardening. The crafting part is the creation of your idea and putting it into a garden. The gardening part is choosing the plants that suit your idea and will grow well together. The same golden rule applies here as in your landscape - choose the right plant for the right place. The associates at Hillermann Nursery are here to help you with design, selection and care tips. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
