Opportunities to Share
During the Season of Giving
The festive holiday season, is a great time to extend your giving to those who are less fortunate. We are a drop off location for several charities to assist your giving efforts. Bring in a donation of Non-Perishable Food Items, Pet Food or Toy Items, Childrens' Scarves and Hats, or New, Unwrapped Toys. Get in the Holiday Spirit and get that great feeling that comes from helping others.
Donations and "Chair"ity Auction
Decorated Chairs representing Area Food Banks, Pregnancy Assistance Center, F.C. Humane Society and Landon Holmes' medical fund are on display at our garden center entrance. Vote for your favorite by placing non-perishable food items next to it to be donated to local charities. Silent auction sheets will be available for you to bid on the decorated chairs with the donation going to the charity. Highest bidders will be notified on December 19, 2014.
Toys for Tots
Hillermann Nursery & Florist is serving as a drop off location for Toys for Tots. The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve will distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. Now through December 15, you can drop off a new, unwrapped toy that will be given to needy children in our area. Guidelines for Gift Giving: Toys for Tots will not accept any type of toy that resembles a weapon, gifts with food, or gift cards and they typically serve children up to age 12.

Colorful Plants for the Holidays

Christmas Cactus
Christmas cactus prefer bright, indirect sunlight. After Christmas Cactus buds have set, water liberally when soil is dry. The ideal temperature is between 55 - 70 degrees.

Cyclamen
Cyclamen like a bright room away from direct sunlight. Keep soil evenly moist. These plants prefer cooler temperatures around 50 - 60 degrees.
Poinsettia
The poinsettia is a favorite for the holidays. Place them in a spot that will get bright direct sunlight. Allow soil to become moderately dry between watering. Average home temperature away from a direct heat source is best.
