"I like Workplace Giving because it's so convenient: it makes donating easy. But, more importantly, I like Workplace Giving with United Way because I love the mission of Education, Income, and Health. Those are three pillars that are critically important to the community and our society. By partnering with non-profits, I have the trust that United Way is administering the funds to ensure that there is focus on Education, Income, and Health. These things are foundational."

Is Your Child Covered?

All In, a Health Care Project which aims to provide Health Care for all families, has released the "ABC's" to getting free or affordable health care for your children. We have summarized the most important details for you and your child, because we at United Way also believe that no child should go without health care.

A

All children, regardless of immigration status, now qualify for Medi-Cal coverage. Recent actions within Medi-Cal provide free or affordable healthcare to children 19 and younger, including undocumented children.

B

Begin enrolling your kids now. If your child is enrolled in restricted Medi-Cal, they may be enrolled now into full-scope Medi-Cal which was expanded in May 2016.

C

Coverage is free or low cost. For families whose income meets the requirements it is free, and if a family does not meet these requirements it is a small monthly premium. The coverage includes medical, vision, dental and mental health services.

D
Don't forget to bring what you need. While not all these items are required for enrollment, remember to bring as many of them as you can provide: Proof of Identity, Proof of Income, Child's Birth Certificate, Proof of Residency, and Medi-Cal cards of other family members. Proof of income can include a pay stub, and Proof of Residency could be a telephone or electric bill.

Remember: Signing your child up for Medi-Cal will NOT disclose you or your child's immigration status to anyone.  It will remain confidential, and will only be used to determine your child's health coverage.

Sign your children up for Medi-Cal today by calling our referral hotline, 2-1-1.
