Thanks for Shopping!

Last December, United Way supporters shopped for a good cause at two different events:
Whole Foods Market San Luis Obispo donated 5% of their sales on December 17th, raising over $2,800 that will positively impact the education, income and health of our community.

On Friday, December 19th, the Youth Board hosted a holiday shopping party at HumanKind Fair Trade store in San Luis Obispo. Youth Board members offered holiday treats and gift wrapping to shoppers, and 20% of sales from the evening were donated the Youth Board, helping them raise over $450.

Thanks for shopping to support United Way of San Luis Obispo County!

Give a Voice to Homeless Individuals

Homeless service providers are seeking volunteers to help with the Point-in-Time Census that will be conducted on January 26, 2015 from approximately 6 am to 10 am. This census is scheduled every 2 years and is a requirement for federal HUD funding of local homeless services. The census also helps providers and the public better understand the size, characteristics and needs of our local homeless population.

A volunteer orientation information presentation is also available for those who would like more specific details about the Point-in-Time Count process and what can be done to prepare for your volunteer experience. Sign up online, or if you would prefer to talk to someone in person, please call (877) 728-4545 and ask for the SLO Homeless Volunteer Coordinator.

Opportunity Exchange

Back by popular demand! The Opportunity Exchange is a listing of in-kind donation needs from nonprofit agencies, and items available for donation. The list, which will be updated biweekly, will be used to connect local businesses with items available, such as furniture or office equipment, with specific nonprofit needs.

Use this form on our website to enter your need or available item. Once the list is compiled, it will be available here
