Flavor of SLO

Flavor of SLO

The 5th Annual Flavor of SLO is coming up on Sunday, May 5, 2013!
SLO County's favorite restaurants, wineries, and breweries will meet at the Historic Jack House & Gardens on Marsh Street in downtown San Luis Obispo for this affordable tasting benefit. Delectable tastes are accompanied by the tunes of local bands Proxima Parada, Louder Space, and Daniel Harrington. Flavor of SLO takes place on Sunday, May 5th from 1:00-4:00 p.m., rain or shine! Pre-sale tickets are $45/public, $30/students.  All proceeds support education, income and health programs in SLO County. Fees increase by $10 at the door, so purchase your tickets now by visiting www.flavorofslo.com. We are especially grateful to this year's sponsors, First Solar and Sesloc. Ticket holders must be over 21 and identification policy is strictly enforced.  We hope to see you there!

Want to take a bit of Flavor of SLO home with you? Enter to win the Flavors of SLO raffle for 50 premium bottles of wine. For only $50, you can enter to win this "instant wine cellar." Only 200 tickets will be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn at the May 5th event, but winners need not be present to win. Email Alicia at [email protected] to purchase a raffle ticket.

Youth Board Accepting Applications

Youth Board

The United Way Youth Board is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Board. The Youth Board is a unique volunteer experience that gives youth the control and responsibility of their projects. Students serve as a United Way Board of Directors and are given the opportunity to make a direct impact on their peers by addressing the needs of their community. Board members must live in San Luis Obispo County, be high school age, and commit to attending one meeting each month.

Learn more about the program and download an applications online at www.unitedwayslo.org/youthboard. Questions and applications can be submitted to [email protected]

Remnants of the Past
Remnants of the Past Trevor and Alyssa
UWSLOC is excited to once again be the charity partner for Remnants of the Past antique show, June 1-2, 2013 at the Alex Madonna Expo Center. You can support our the Imagination Library in two different ways this year:

- Use our porter services, located on the far right side of the Expo center. We can check your purchases while you continue to shop and our volunteer porters can help load your car when you are ready to pack up all of your treasures. Services are available on a donation basis!
- Buy Camp Remnants merchandise. Proceeds from the sales of this official ROTP gear supports reading in SLO County.

Imagination Library, founded by Dolly Parton, provides free, new books to children every month from ages 0-5.

For your chance to win a trip to the show, visit the ROTP website!

Volunteers for the event also receive free entrance to the show. Email Jill at [email protected] to sign up.

Opportunities abound in this month's edition of the Opportunity Exchange. Take a look and find an opportunity to Give, Advocate or Volunteer. The Opportunity Exchange is also a great place for you or your business to post items you would like to donate, such as furniture or office equipment.

If you would like more information on specific needs, volunteer opportunities or upcoming events, please contact the agency directly using the information provided in each listing.
