Support the United Way Youth Board
Join us for the first ever Youth Board BBQ fundraiser!
BBQ Fundraiser
Saturday, March 16
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Miner's Hardware
2034 Santa Barbara Ave, SLO
This fundraiser supports the programs of the United Way Youth Board, a unique volunteer experience that gives youth the control and responsibility of their projects. Students serve as a United Way Board of Directors and are given the opportunity to make a direct impact on their peers by addressing the needs of their community. Pictured in the banner above is the 2012-2013 Youth Board, with grantees from Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County's Teen Academic Parenting and Project Teen Health programs, and Restorative Partners' Juvenile Hall Book Club Project, who were each awarded $1,000 in February.

Each year, United Way recruits volunteers to play an important role in the grant process. Panel members review Community Impact Fund applications and make funding recommendations to the UWSLOC Board of Directors in order to carry out the spirit of United Way's mission and to ensure a fair and equitable means for distributing funds raised.
