State of the Arts Grants Deadline Fast Approaching!



Compassionate St Augustine is seeking quotes from professional St. Augustine photographers to document 25, 8 to 14 foot tall, Obelisk Art 450 public art project obelisks on sites citywide (primarily downtown).

Signatures Needed for Arts Education Petition   
 

Please take two minutes now to  sign this petition to ensure that these arts education policies are strong components of the final bill that Congress will vote on to reauthorize The Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Florida's members of Congress need to hear from Floridians that arts education policies matter.

22nd Melbourne Fall Art Festival - Melbourne, FL (Deadline: October 8)  
The Melbourne Fall Festival is currently the largest free admittance art festival and concert series in all of the Central Florida area, featuring nationally recognized bands and over 200 artists. 14th Annual Tactile Art Show 
Touchable Art that Touches the Heart
October 2 - November 1, 2015
ARTISTS ARE INVITED to participate in the 14th Annual Tactile Art Show, an installation of all touchable art.  Entries may include sculptures, wall hangings, ceramics, fiber art, reliefs, woodworks, glass, kinetic art, textured canvas, assemblages, interactive art and other mediums.

4 Bridges Arts Festival 2016 - Chattanooga, TN (Deadline: October 31)
 4 Bridges Arts Festival will return for its 16th year to bring world-class fine art to the region. 4 Bridges Arts Festival is a fully juried show with artist awards totalling $15,000. Diversity in mediums and styles in a 50,000 sq. ft. covered pavilion mixed with serious art buyers from across the region, and beyond, creates an atmosphere unlike any other. Show dates are April 15-17, 2016, and location is First Tennessee Pavilion (1826 Reggie White Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37408). For more info, visit here.  

Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition - Ocala, FL (Deadline: September 30)
The City of Ocala is accepting submissions from sculptors to participate in the Third Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition. Ten works will be selected for a 20 month exhibition at Tuscawilla Park in Ocala, FL. Best of Show, Second Place, Honorable Mention, and People's Choice awards will be given. A walking tour brochure, mobile device tour, and exhibit catalog for the exhibition will be produced. For more info, visit here. 
 

2015 Florida Book Awards Competition (Deadline: January 14)
The Florida Book Awards has kicked off its tenth annual competition with a call for entries in nine categories. Books can be entered into the competition by anyone (e.g. publisher, author or literary agent) via the online submission form. To be eligible, entries must have both a copyright date between Jan. 1, 2015, and Dec. 31, 2015, and an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). For more info, visit here.

 
Artwork Sought for University of Florida Chemistry/Chemical Biology Building - Gainseville, FL (Deadline: September 26)  
This new building project at the University of Florida is seeking artwork with some combination of an educational and scientific scheme. A possible Florida-related theme might also be suggested - solar energy, environmental fragility. Call to Artists for Paint the Beach Plein Air Art Festival - Fort Myers Beach, FL (Deadline: October 30)

 Planning is well underway for the 6th annual Paint the Beach, a plein air painting competition and art show. This festival is free to the public and will take place on November 2-8, 2015 on Fort Myers Beach. Paint the Beach will present over $3,000 in cash awards and prizes to the Plein Air painters. The first place winner will receive $1000 and a 1/3 page ad in Plein Air Magazine. Second Place winner receives $750 and Third Place $500. Several other cash and prize awards will be given. Artslink Independent Projects (Deadline: December 3)
Independent Projects awards provide funding to artists and arts managers who propose to undertake projects in the United States in collaboration with a US non-profit arts organization or individual artist. Applicants must have a letter of invitation from a US partner in order to apply for an Independent Projects award. Maximum award is $5,000. For more info, visit here. 

 
Knight Cities Challenge Offering Innovators $5 million (Deadline: October 27) 
Knight Foundation will be presenting the Knight Cities Challenge starting Oct. 1. The challenge seeks ideas that make the 26 communities where Knight invests more vibrant places to live and work. Applicants can win a share of $5 million for sharing ideas on how to make cities more successful. For more info, visit here .  
 
Apply Now for MAP Fund Grant (Deadline: September 28)  
Since 1989, the MAP Fund has disbursed over 20 million dollars to 880 projects in playwriting, choreography, music composition, and ensemble, site-specific, and community-based performance. For more info, visit here 

Aaron Copland Fund for Music Invites Applications for Contemporary American Music Recording Projects (Deadline: January 15)
 The Aaron Copland Fund's Recording Program is designed to support projects that document and provide wider exposure for the music of contemporary American composers and/or develop audiences for contemporary American music through the distribution of recorded performances in physical and online media. The fund is interested primarily in supporting recordings of works by living American composers and those who are recently deceased and favors works that were composed more recently. DDCF Accepting Grant Proposals to Strengthen Performing Arts (Deadline: February 26)
Through its Fund for National Projects, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation awards up to $1 million in grants annually in support of important national projects in the professional nonprofit dance, jazz, presenting, and/or theater fields. Specifically, the fund supports projects that strengthen the national infrastructure of the nonprofit performing arts fields and those that improve conditions for the national community of performing artists in professional nonprofit dance, jazz, and theater. The St. Augustine Historical Society Research Library is looking for volunteers with computer experience to help archive their photo collection. Volunteers scan and document the images so they can be added to the online catalog. Other computer related projects are available as well. The Research Library is located in the Segui Kirby-Smith House (the old public library) on Aviles Street.  Parking for library volunteers is at the Oldest House on Charlotte and St. Francis Street.
