President's Message

Can you believe it's September already?! They say times flies when you're having fun, and apparently, it also flies when you're changing the world! The ADAO community has accomplished lots so far in 2016, and August was no exception.

ADAO participated in two stakeholder meetings with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to discuss TSCA implementation. We've also been busy planning our 10th Congressional Staff Briefing, where we'll educate Senate staffers on how they can help ensure TSCA bans asbestos. We'll also hold a private meeting with the EPA while we're in DC, where we look forward to strengthening our partnership and advising toward an asbestos ban.

We've got great momentum going into our DC trip--last week, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy supporting ADAO's position and calling for asbestos to be banned under TSCA.

In addition to our upcoming work in Washington, with Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26, this will also be a month of uniting the community through social sharing and exciting activities. We're continuing our impactful
Raise Your Voice social media campaign throughout the month, and we're hosting two Twitter chats about coping with mesothelioma and raising asbestos awareness. We're also working to finalize our 2016 Mesothelioma Warrior Memorial Dedication Video, which will be published on Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

As we dive into this busy, exciting month, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you.
As supporters, volunteers, donors, and sponsors, you are the heart, soul, and life force behind ADAO. We've made a 2016 by-the-numbers infographic to illustrate just how powerful our collective activism is--thanks largely to the support of our Platinum Sponsors Motley Rice LLC and Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC, and Gold Sponsor Simon Greenstone Panatier Bartlett. Everything our organization accomplishes in the name of asbestos victims is all thanks to the generous donations of time, money, and leadership from our phenomenal ADAO family. I am endlessly grateful to each and every one of you.

In unity always,

HONORING AND REMEMBERING ON LABOR DAY
Before you light your Labor Day BBQ and enjoy a day of rest, take a minute to reflect on workers' sacrifices and achievements. Tragically, asbestos-caused diseases remain a workplace killer.
