PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As we near the near the end of this year, I find myself reflecting on ADAO's 2014 accomplishments and our aspirations for 2015.
The end of the year is also the time when we reflect on our goals for the New Year, and though we have accomplished so much, there is always more to do and minds to change. ADAO will continue our work to protect asbestos victims' civil rights and public health. Now is the time, more than EVER, to bind together in unity, hope, and positivity to pursue our ever present goal of justice and support for asbestos victims around the globe. Thank you for joining me in this exciting journey, and cheers to even more progress in the new year!

Stephanie Harper, of Bonham, Texas, was a daddy's girl. When her father would come home from work - he was a handyman, a jack of all trades, doing auto mechanics, heating and cooling, anything - she'd grab him and hug him as hard as she could. "I'd sit on his feet and grab his pants legs," she remembers. Read More ...

Asbestos: "Art, Science, and Politics" Conference Update from Dr. Barry Castleman "A conference was held in Bogota called Art, Science, and Politics on November 5-7. Prior to this event, there were some reports in the local newspaper, El Tiempo. The spokesman for the asbestos industry (Ascolfibras), a businessman with a medical education, assured readers in one of these newspaper reports that, "The type of asbestos used in Colombia is regulated and is safe." This man was invited to the conference, but neither he nor anyone else from the industry came to address the meeting (he may have sent observers). A response to his claims in the newspaper was prepared for the editor, co-signed by doctors in Colombia and foreign participants. ~ Barry Castleman Read More ...

November: Australia National Asbestos Awareness Week November 24 - 30
Australians dedicated the month of November to educating citizens across the country about the dangers of asbestos in and around homes. Even though all six forms of asbestos have been banned in Australia, asbestos-related diseases continue to increase. With home renovations and DIY projects, deadly asbestos fibers are left to linger in the air and cause life-threatening health effects upon inhalation, especially by those who have not taken precautions to protect themselves. Even the smallest amount of asbestos dust can be lethal - so it is crucial to be aware of the dangers and the proper protection methods. Read more...
