Aloha 'OGL in a Box'

A New Kit to Preserve Tough Samples at Sea

How would you preserve the precious DNA of deep-sea corals when you're on a ship in the remote North Pacific Ocean?

OGL built a custom sampling kit for the science team of the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. This summer, the ship will investigate several of the world's newest, largest, and most remote marine monuments and sanctuaries, located in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. These protected areas are home to unique geological features and unexplored biodiversity.

The new kit will help document deep-sea biodiversity in this remote and enchanting marine region.
