Meet Water Christian Church...
As a new church plant, Water Christian Church is beginning a new journey of faith where God is leading them to rediscover and recreate.

Water Christian Church wants to be a place where you retreat weekly and renew your tired soul. They are located in the middle of the city, yet are surrounded by nature, the perfect God given anecdote to stress. They want to be a place where you and your family can spend some quality time away from the TV, video games and daily grind and reset the natural rhythm of your life as God intended.

Solar Power is Contagious
Rooftop solar is expanding rapidly in the United States - by some estimates, a new system goes up every four minutes. There are plenty of reasons for that, from falling prices to generous federal subsidies to innovative leasing schemes.
But there's another, little-discussed factor here: Residential solar power is contagious. Yep, contagious. Studies have found that if you install solar photovoltaic panels on your roof, that increases the odds that your neighbors will install their own panels. Read the full article here.

Patagonia Encourages
Consuming Less

It is not easy to follow Jesus and participate in the consumerist culture of our nation. The bigger, better, more attitude pulls us toward greed and away from care of the least of these. For those of us who follow Jesus by walking more gently on the earth, quality over quantity makes sense. While we do not endorse particular companies, we are intrigued by Patagonia's message. Imagine the effect on God's good earth, if we, the people of the United States, adopted this mindset in all our purchases.

At Patagonia, they believe the solution to consumerism, is to consume less, but consume better. They tell their customers to buy something that will last forever and to simplify their lives." During the deep recession, Patagonia's business grew 8 to 9% and founder Yvon Chouinard believes their approach is evidence of a new economy taking hold.

Solar Energy Economics
sunflower-sm.jpg
The main economic factors for Solar Energy are the local state or federal subsidies and the price that you normally pay for electricity from your utility. Federal subsidies come in the form of tax credits for solar installations and do not vary anywhere in the country. State or city subsidies may also be in the form of tax credits, but there are also rebates and the utility you are hooked up to may or may not be forced to take into account any surplus power that you generate yourself and supply to the grid. An economic factor that is often neglected is the rising cost of electricity generated by non solar means and the average cost per unit of this electricity. This affects the amount of savings that can be made by using solar generated electricity rather than continuing to use grid supplied electricity. When all the economic factors are taken into consideration, some interesting facts are revealed. For instance, one of the cloudiest and coldest states - New York - is actually a better place to install a home based solar energy system than many sunnier locations. This is mainly because of more generous credits given by state and city governments in what has become a much more forward thinking, in solar terms, than many other states. Also, normal electricity is more expensive in New York than states like Louisiana or Texas, for instance. It is economics like this which helps to explain the explosion in home solar energy installations over the last decade - a phenomenon which shows no sign of decelerating.

"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."

All of creation waits for us...to step up to preserve our God-given planetary home. How long must creation wait?
