Piyyutim are ancient and modern sacred Hebrew poems. Through piyyutim, we can explore the human voice as conduit for contemplative practice, combining the beauty of Jewish liturgical poetry with soulful chanting. We will explore the lives of the poets and their writings through study of their cultural and historical contexts while developing the practice of chanting. Co-taught by Harry Abadi and Cantor Hollis Schachner.
