TST Annual Appeal - 100% Community Participation
Thanks to all of our members who have shown their support of the TST Annual Fund spring appeal, we are pleased to report that we have raised $20,000 towards the $25,000 match in new and increased donations so far. The match includes 52 new and 62 increased member donations. We are so very grateful for this extraordinary show of support for our sacred community. We are moving in a positive direction, but we still need support from 100% of our community to meet our goal of raising $275,000 by June 30, 2016.

Adult Education Presents: Jews From Far Flung Places
Wednesdays, June 8 - June 15, 7:00 p.m.
Temple Shir Tikva is blessed with a community comprised of Jews from many countries. Most of us, however, have more curiosity than knowledge about the history, culture, traditions and religious practices of Jews from lands far away. This program, led by six members of our Shir Tikva community, seeks not only to satisfy your curiosity, but also to broaden your knowledge and deepen your understanding of these aspects of Jewish life in Africa and Eastern Europe.

There will be no charge for this program.

Sisterhood Book Group
Thursday, June 9, 7:30 p.m.
The final book group selection of the year will be On the Move: A Life: Oliver Sacks. See the description below. If you have read any of his other works or essays, come join us and add to the discussion.  Please bring book recommendations for next year as well.

From the Amazon.com review
"When Oliver Sacks was twelve years old, a perceptive schoolmaster wrote: "Sacks will go far, if he does not go too far." It is now abundantly clear that Sacks has never stopped going. With unbridled honesty and humor, Sacks writes about the passions that have driven his life-from motorcycles and weight lifting to neurology and poetry. He writes about his love affairs, both romantic and intellectual; his guilt over leaving his family to come to America; his bond with his schizophrenic brother; and the writers and scientists-W. H. Auden, Gerald M. Edelman, Francis Crick-who have influenced his work. On the Move is the story of a brilliantly unconventional physician and writer, a man who has illuminated the many ways that the brain makes us human."

Mayyim Hayyim
June 9, 6 p.m., Temple Emanuel, Newton, MA

Mayyim Hayyim is a 21st century mikveh rooted in ancient tradition and reinvented to serve today's Jewish community. A resource for learning, spiritual discovery and creativity where women and men of all ages celebrate milestones such as weddings and b'nei mitzvah; where conversion to Judaism is accorded the honor and dignity it deserves; where survivors of trauma, illness or loss find solace; and where women explore the ritual of monthly immersion on their own terms.

Mayyim Hayyim provides more than 1500 immersions and 110 education programs every year, hosts art exhibits, offers national consultation services, and provides meaningful volunteer opportunities and training. A local treasure and an international model since 2004, Jews from around the US and Israel visit Mayyim Hayyim to tour, learn, and immerse.

Our Spring Event on June 9 brings in a major portion of the support we need to keep our doors open.  Please help us in spreading the word about our event and encouraging people to attend. It will be a wonderful evening, full of laughter, song and stories.  Contact events@mayyimhayyim.org for more information.

Ticket prices are $54.
