Selling Chametz
Pesach Is Coming!
'For seven days you shall eat matzah...
No chametz will be found in any of your domain." (Exodus 13:7)

For many Jewish families, the Mitzvah of not owning any chametz (leavened products) on Pesach is taken quite literally, and we follow the tradition of selling it off before the holiday so that, in fact, we own no chametz whatsoever when the holiday arrives. Once again, Shir Tikva is offering to SELL all of your family's chametz in fulfillment of this tradition. All you need to do is segregate any chametz that is remaining in your home into a discreet box or cabinet, and fill out the "Intent to Sell" form.

If you would like Rabbi Gubitz to sell your chametz in fulfillment of the Mitzvah of mechirat chametz, please contact Karen Edwards in the Temple office or return the "intent to sell form"  for an application no later than Wednesday, April 20.
Temple Shir Tikva Self-Study Congregation Meeting
Monday, May 2, 7-9 p.m.
Temple Shir Tikva Self-Study
As we embark on the next steps of our journey toward finding a senior rabbi for the temple, it is critical that we follow best practices, as well as embrace this unique opportunity to come together as a community, by conducting a self-study in which we listen to one another and assess who we are and what we want in our future leader. There are many ways for us to gather this information, and I want to alert you to all of them.

Adult Education Presents: Jews From Far Flung Places
Wednesdays, May 11 - June 15, 7:00 p.m.
Temple Shir Tikva is blessed with a community comprised of Jews from many countries. Most of us, however, have more curiosity than knowledge about the history, culture, traditions and religious practices of Jews from lands far away. This program, led by 6 members of our Shir Tikva community, seeks not only to satisfy your curiosity, but also to broaden your knowledge and deepen your understanding of these aspects of Jewish life in Africa and Eastern Europe.

Our speakers have all done independent historical research for this program, grown up in the 20th century in countries once ruled by colonial empires, monarchies, despots, and dictators. They were close witnesses to the aftermath of WWII and the Cold War. They are all serious, accomplished professionals.

They will speak both about the history and historical context of Jews in their native lands, the attempts by the Jews to adapt to political, ethnic and religious attacks on their  way of life while there. Finally, they will share their Jewish journey to Boston, including the story of their assimilation into American Jewish life.

Speakers will entertain questions from the audience for a reasonable period of time after they conclude their presentations.

There will be no charge for this program.
Building Improvement Committee Congregation-Wide Meeting

Come and share your ideas.
