Community Brunch
|
March 6, 9:00 a.m. Join us for our second Congregation Community brunch hosted by the Congregation Engagement Committee. Get together with old friends and make new friends in a warm and friendly environment over hot scrambled eggs and coffee, and other nosh.
All are welcome, so whether you are dropping kids off for religious school, looking for a reason to get out of the house or are just in the neighborhood, please join us.
This is a social event so you can drop in any time. If you know you will be there, please RSVP at www.shirtikva.org/communitybrunch so that we can be sure to have enough food. Otherwise, stop by anyway.

Temple Shir Tikva and United Parish Interfaith Choirs present:
Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms
Join the combined interfaith choirs of Temple Shir Tikva and United Parish as our communities celebrate the Sabbath together. These two collaborative worship services will feature Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, written entirely in
Hebrew.
Commissioned in 1965 by the Cathedral of Chichester, Sussex, England for its annual music festival, the world premiere of this beautiful piece took place on July 15, 1965 in New York at Philharmonic Hall, with Leonard Bernstein conducting.
This magnificent choral masterwork will be presented as part of our Simchat Shabbat service on Friday evening at Shir Tikva and during Sunday morning worship at United Parish in Brookline.

Brisket and Scotch Tasting

March 26, 2016, 7 - 10 p.m.
Warm up on a cold winters' night with a homemade meal, scotch-tasting, good conversation and a little friendly competition. Can you make a brisket better than anyone else you know? Do you use Bubbie's top secret recipe? Do you want to taste the difference between an Islay and a Highland or a single malt and a blend? Join old friends and new at the Brisket Cook-Off and Scotch Tasting. Enjoy a potluck dinner and desserts (sign up via the Registration link), wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages, guided scotch tasting and voting for the winning brisket entry. Winners will take home prizes and coveted bragging rights.
The evening will also include live music by special guests to help set the festive note to the night! You don't need to make a brisket to join us, but you do have to be 21. Just $25 per person. Please register by March 23, 2016 so we can get an accurate count.

Theaction packed musical based on the best selling book by Rick Riordan will be performed atthe Leventhal-Sidman JCC on Sunday, March 6th. Performances are at 1pm and 3pm and tickets are $15 general admission. The Leventhal-Sidman JCC is located at 333 Nahanton Street in Newton. Adapted from the best-selling young adult novel, The Lightning Thief is the story of Percy Jackson, a boy who journeys into a world of mythological monsters and Greek Gods as he struggles with dyslexia and ADHD, all while solving the mystery of Zeus' stolen lightning bolt. This lively musical adaptation features songs reminding us that "normal is a myth. Everyone has issues that they're dealing with." Presented by the award-winning Theatreworks USA this exciting national touring production is imaginative, entertaining and sure to be a huge hit!
