High Holy Days 5776

Shir Tikva's critical planning for this year's High Holy Days, which begin with Selichot on September 5, closely followed by Rosh HaShanah on September 13, is well underway.

The initial congregational mailing for the Holy Days will be sent on Thursday, August 6 and all requests for extra tickets, registration for our Children's Programming, "Scroll of Remembrance" memorial listings and similar items will be due back to the Temple office no later than Friday, August 21.

We know these dates occur while most of our community is enjoying summer mode, but we ask that you please be on the lookout for this very important communication and respond to it as soon as you receive it, so that we can all be prepared for these important and significant days in our Jewish year.

Shabbat Morning Minyan Torah Reading Opportunities

Every Shabbat morning, an amazing community gathers in our sanctuary for Shabbat morning minyan. This quiet, contemplative, and joyful worship begins at 8:30 and the Torah service is beautifully led by a committed team of congregants. Opportunities abound to serve as Ba'al Koreh, reading from the Torah, or serving as Gabbai, the individual who coordinates and supports the Torah service. Even if you are new to Torah chanting, need support to prepare, or are comfortable with this Mitzvah - we need you! Please click on the following link to see available dates and fill out the google form.

Write your name, click on any dates you are available, and make sure to save your response.

If a portion is special in your life for any reason, please make note of that in the Further Comments section.  I will do my best to assign you that honor.

I will be in touch to confirm which dates you are reading once critical mass have responded.

Again, the link to the online form is Shabbat Morning Torah Sign Up

Thank you!

Rabbi Jen Gubitz

TeenSafe

TeenSafe is now co-ed and accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year. Please help us spread the word about this unique youth leadership opportunity.

The program is designed to give teens the language and tools they need to recognize abuse in a dating relationship and know how to respond if they see, hear about, or experience it.

Participants raise awareness about teen dating abuse through campaigns, community activities, and presenting workshops to their peers, parents, and educators.

Teen Safe is for teens entering 10th or 11th grade.

2015-2016 TeenSafe application
