Simchat Shabbat and BBQ

June 19, July 24 and August 28

Join us for this monthly summer tradition at TST

Attend our beautiful Simchat Shabbat services at 6:15 pm on Friday, June 19 and stay for a casual BBQ dinner in our courtyard.

Kosher hamburgers and hot dogs and veggie burgers, along with pareve and gluten free buns will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a non-dairy side dish, non-dairy dessert, or beverage to share.

Imagine welcoming Shabbat together then sharing a meal. The kids can run around, play ball or toss a Frisbee while adults hang out together under the setting sun.

RSVP to Debbie Pullen at dmpullenfamily@yahoo.com and you will be sent a link to the potluck signup list.

Family Promise Update

Our 4th week of hosting Family Promise Metrowest has come to an end. With mixed feelings, we have said goodbye to Daisy, Carlos and Amber, as they move on to their own apartment under the FPMW's Transitional Housing Program. On Tuesday night, June 2, TST hosted a baby shower for the family who will welcome a 2nd child in August. Daisy was glowing while she opened her presents and declared "she had never had a shower before". Carlos, was enormously grateful to FP, "thank you for giving us a roof and a 2nd chance", emotions were running high for all who were there. But as they move on, we welcomed 2 new families, Kellie and her 6 year old son Nicholas, as well as Tacha, her daughter Adeyah and her 4 month old son Jeremiah.

We said goodbye on Sunday, to our new families and to Jackie, and her 3 children, who were our guests all 3 times we hosted this year.

The TST Family Promise team, lead by Cindy Lombardo and Wendy Newman, supported by Debbie Pullen, Karen Langweber, Mitch Corton, Doug Dolgov, Jayne Lampert, Andi Shaw, Marilyn Newman, Amy O'Donnell and Karen Pelto did an unbelievable job pulling this all together in our 1st year. After our success during our initial 2 week host period, we offered to host an additional week in March when FPMW found themselves without a host congregation for the week. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team of superstar volunteers.

Thank you to our entire TST community and our support congregations, in particular to the Islamic Center of Boston, who has been a consistent partner, and helped make our 1st year a memorable and meaningful mitzvah opportunity. The new friendships we have formed with our neighbors is a source of great pride.

We are currently working on the calendar for next year and will get our assignment for 2016 sometime over the summer. We cannot do FP without you, and we hope we can count on your continued support next year.

Shabbat Morning Minyan Torah Reading Opportunities

Every Shabbat morning, an amazing community gathers in our sanctuary for Shabbat morning minyan. This quiet, contemplative, and joyful worship begins at 8:30 and the Torah service is beautifully led by a committed team of congregants. Opportunities abound to serve as Ba'al Koreh, reading from the Torah, or serving as Gabbai, the individual who coordinates and supports the Torah service. Even if you are new to Torah chanting, need support to prepare, or are comfortable with this Mitzvah - we need you! Please click on the following link to see available dates and fill out the google form.

Write your name, click on any dates you are available, and make sure to save your response.

If a portion is special in your life for any reason, please make note of that in the Further Comments section.  I will do my best to assign you that honor.

I will be in touch to confirm which dates you are reading once critical mass have responded.

Again, the link to the online form is Shabbat Morning Torah Sign Up

Thank you!

Rabbi Jen Gubitz
