Breakfast with an Israeli Hero

Thursday, December 4  8:00-9:00 a.m.

You're invited to join Rabbi Gold for breakfast to meet an extraordinary Israeli Mitzvah - Hero, ODELIA BEN PORAT

Odelia lives and works in Sderot-the town that sits on the border with Gaza and has been a focal point of Hamas missiles for the past decade.  She runs an organization called Re'ut-Sderot, a community of volunteers that cares for the shell-shocked citizens of Sderot, especially its children.  Odelia is one of three hundred families that not only came to Sderot to work and to volunteer-but they moved into town, in order to become part of the fabric of the community! She has wonderful and amazing stories to tell about Israeli life on the frontlines of the conflict.

This is the organization in Sderot with whom Rabbi Gold volunteered this summer, playing with children in the summer camp they run in the bomb shelters there. It is Jewish life on the edge-and it is very inspiring.  Please join us for breakfast and a special opportunity to discuss more about modern life in Israel in all of its complicated beauty. There is no cost for this breakfast and it is not a fundraiser.

To RSVP, please contact Karen Edwards (kedwards@shirtikva.org) in the Shir Tikva office no later than Monday, December 1. All are welcome!
