LAPID: Helping Families in Sderot

Israeli children are living under the rain of missiles.  Please help.

July 24. Sderot, Israel. Out of 1790 rockets that were fired at Israel since the beginning of the war, 800 were pointed at the small town of Sderot.  Sderot has been the main target of Hamas missiles since 2001 and now there about 50 missiles and 50 alert sirens each day.

TST has been helping families of Sderot with children who suffer from severe PTSD.  These children can't sleep, hide from people, and become hysterical each time they hear a missile alert.  They can't study, or read and live in fear.  TST works with the Lapid Rehabilitation Center Education School which produces astonishing results.

Due to lack of funds, currently there are only 12 children in this program and the need now is much higher.  Please help by sending checks to Temple Shir Tikva  Lapid at Adopt-A -Family fund.

College Connections

Are your children going to college?  Make sure they are part of the College Connections Program!

Great way to keep our kids connected with the TST community!

Your child will receive a special gift of goodies 3 times a year during the holidays, plus a special letter from Rabbi Gold!

All you have to do is provide us with your child's address, and we'll take care of the rest!  If you have already participated, please be sure to send your current child's address to ensure we have it.  Also, let us know if your child will be studying abroad during the year.

Want to help put the packages together, and meet other parents to schmooze? --- an easy and fun way to be involved!

Please send your child's college address to: Mona Dolgov at  Dolgov@comcast.net

Brotherhood Events

Brotherhood Golf Classic

Monday, September 15

Join us for our 14th annual TST Brotherhood golf tournament. This year's event will be held at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, MA on Monday September 15, 2014.

This is a great opportunity to not only participate in a fun filled gathering of golf enthusiasts at every level of play, but also an opportunity to support Temple Shir Tikva at the same time! So come on out and help us make this year's event a big success!

There are several ways you can participate...

Play golf. You can invite your spouse, friends or co-workers and create your own foursome. Or, if you cannot get 4 people, we can always pair you up with other golfers of similar abilities to create a foursome for you. Just $175 covers 18 holes, golf cart, box lunch, dinner after golf and a player gift - not to mention the after-golf awards.

Become a sponsor.  If you own a business or know someone who does, you can sponsor a hole, the lunch, or dinner or the entire tournament with a generous donation that also generates terrific publicity.

Donate auction items. Donate sports or theatre tickets, vacation properties, personal services or other merchandise of value. These can be a huge part of the proceeds for the golf classic offered up through our silent and live auction. Your donations are very much welcomed and appreciated.

You do not need a foursome to play; we can set you up with other golfers, so go to www.shirtikva.org/golf to register or for more information.

If you have any questions, please contact Peter Abend at tstbrotherhood@shirtikva.org or at 978-443-7819.

All proceeds directly benefit Temple Shir Tikva, thank you for your support.

Red Sox Ticket Raffle

As part of the Brotherhood Golf Classic we are raffling off 4 owner box seats Red Sox tickets. These seats are located next to the Red Sox on-deck cirdle. You do not have to play golf or be present at the golf tournament to win, so even if you do not play golf you can still help support the event. To purchase raffle tickets only, go to www.shirtikva.org/raffle. If you are playing golf you will be able to purchase them when you register for the tournament. The raffle will be drawn at the golf tournament on September 15.

Brotherhood steering committee

The Temple Shir Tikva brotherhood is putting together a steering committee to help guide the brotherhood. This committee will help build a brotherhood that has something for everyone so that you too can and want to get involved. If you are interested in being part of the steering committee please email the brotherhood at tstbrotherhood@shirtikva.org or call one of the brotherhood co-chairs ( Peter Abend at 978-443-7819 or Mitch Corton at 508-620-9674.
