Dear Friends,
Greetings. This month the Museum is proud to open A Mind of Winter: Photographs by Abelardo Morell. This exhibition showcases a series of photographs that Morell, Bowdoin class of 1971, created here in Maine earlier this year. With generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Museum commissioned him to develop a new project specifically about the theme of winter. Morell will speak about his travels in Maine and the resulting photographs at the exhibition opening on May 5. Please join us also on May 14, as George Lopez, the Beckwith Artist-in-Residence, performs a musical program inspired by A Mind of Winter. We look forward to seeing you at the Museum.
Sincerely,
Anne Collins Goodyear & Frank Goodyear Co-Directors

At the end of June, Bowdoin will pay a fond farewell to President Barry Mills, who concludes a remarkable fourteen-year tenure at the College. Under his leadership, the arts at Bowdoin College have flourished. As President Mills wraps up, the College can now claim a campus encircled by arts-dedicated edifices, thanks to three that were developed during his tenure: the Studzinski Recital Hall (opened 2007), the Robert H. and Blythe Bickel Edwards Center for Art and Dance (opened 2013), and, of course, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, renovated between 2005 and 2007 by the Boston-based architects Machado and Silvetti Associates. more
