We have another full array of programming for all ages this week. Take a peek: One of our many Halloween-themed events this month will be our Maker Monday Spooktacular program for tweens. Kids in grades 4-6 are invited to join us on Monday at 7pm to make creepy crafts that will put them in the holiday spirit. Register here. Local attorney Ken Vercammen returns to the Library on Tuesday for a Wills, Estates and Trusts program at 1pm. He will discuss various legal aspects of these documents and holdings and will clarify the various benefits of estate planning choices. Vercammen is admitted to practice in NJ and Federal District Court and is Managing Attorney of a full service law practice with offices in Edison and Cranbury. He previously served as Prosecutor for the Township of Cranbury, NJ.
Find out more about NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month - which is celebrated each November. The Garden State Speculative Fiction Writers will share everything you need to know on how to begin writing your novel, including writing prompts and exercises to get you started. Please bring your preferred writing equipment (pen & paper, laptop, etc). Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 pm. On Wednesday at 10:30am, we will offer another Sensory Time for Adults. The Library was pleased to begin this new program in September for adults with special needs and their caregivers. These sessions are scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30am. They combine various activities, such as stories, music, games and crafts, and give participants the opportunity to refine their communication and social skills. This month's theme will be "Fun with Fall."

Did you know there are abundant opportunities to experience nature adventures right here in NJ? On Saturday at 2pm, we have a program entitled, "Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State." Presented by David Wheeler, Executive Director of Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ, the session will explore the state's wide array of wildlife and outdoor nature adventures. Wheeler will discuss the year he spent discovering New Jersey's wildlife diversity and habitats, and will talk about the ample opportunities the state offers for nature activities including dogsledding, mountain climbing and wildlife boat tours.
We'll wrap up the week on Sunday at 1:30pm with a visit from therapy dog, Sophie. This program will examine how therapy dogs provide enormous emotional support to many, ranging from hospitalized children to veterans and seniors. Local therapy dog handler Roger Regan will share his process for training the canines and will discuss how they can positively affect a person's quality of life. Attendees will also be able to interact with Sophie during the presentation.
