Dear Library Member,

We had a great time on Old Bridge Day speaking with so many of you who attended.  The comments, compliments and suggestions you gave us will help guide future Library services and acquisitions of resources.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!  We always want to hear them.

We have a terrific week lined up for you.  Here are just a few of the great programs coming up:

Your Digital Afterlife, Monday at 4 pm.  Future heirlooms like family photos, home movies, and personal letters now exist largely in digital form.  These digital possessions form a rich collection that chronicles our lives and connects us to each other.  Learn how to preserve and pass along these digital possessions to your future generations.

U.S. Citizenship Preparation Course In-Person Registration, Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 pm.  Would you like to become a U.S. citizen but the test intimidates you?  Then get prepared for the U.S. Citizenship Test with this ten-week course presented through grant funds by Literacy New Jersey.  The course covers questions and topics found on the test. Learn how to complete the N-400 Application.  Learn important words that you will need to know for the test and the oral interview.  This course will run for 10 weeks on Tuesdays starting October 5 from 6 to 8 pm.

We are extremely pleased to announce a new initiative for home schooled children: Home School Book Club.  The first meeting is on Friday at 11 am and is scheduled for the last Friday of each month at 11.  This book discussion group is for children ages 8-12.  At our first meeting we will discuss what books appeal to you, your curriculum and what your interests are.  Parents are welcome at the first meeting to give their input.  Registration suggested.

On Friday at 6 pm, FIRST LEGO League for ages 9-14 will have its first weekly meeting!  Get Ready...Get Set...ROAR!  Do you love animals?  Do you love using LEGO® to build your own creations?  Then join the 2016 FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge, an international competition for kids around the world!  This year's challenge theme is Animal Allies.  Teams will identify a problem that occurs when people and animals interact and design a solution for that problem.  Teams will also build, test, and program robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.  Register here and watch the video to learn more!

Author Ken Altabef will present
a lecture on Saturday at noon focusing on his experiences with the publishing industry.  Ken's short fiction has been published in various magazines and anthologies over the years.  He is also the author of several books for teens and adults.

Have a spectacular week.  See you in the Library!

Regards,
Nancy Cohen, Library Director
