Dear Library Member,
Meet our Hometown Hero, Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist, Laurie Hernandez, as Old Bridge welcomes her home on Saturday, August 27. Please click here for full details on activities and motorcade route. We are so proud of you, Laurie!
Remember those garish and unusual desserts from the 50s, 60s and 70s? They're ba-a-ack! Come and sample a few retro desserts, like ice box cake and more! Recipes provided. This program is open to adults and teens. Registration is required. One person per registration, please, so we can get an accurate head count and make sure that we have enough supplies for everyone. Important note: milk, nuts and other possible allergens will be used. Tuesday at 7 pm.
In our continuing art lecture series Meet the Artist, the spotlight will be on Jackson Pollock, influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. The lecture will cover his tumultuous and ultimately short life, his unconventional, avante-garde art and methods, and how he changed the way we look at art. Friday at 10:30 am. No registration required.
Scratch is a graphical programming language developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. Scratch takes advantage of advances in computing power and interface design to make computer programming more engaging and accessible for children, teens, and others who are learning to program. You will use MaKey-MaKeys instead of computer keyboards to test your work. Saturday at 10:30 am we are offering Scratch Coding for Beginners for ages 9-12. Register here.
