Dear Library Member,
It's hard to believe how fast this summer has gone by. In a couple of weeks our summer reading program will be over! There's still time to participate and earn prizes, though. On Saturday you will have many chances to do both at our Summer Reading Finale party. At 11 am we will be hosting a grades K-5 program with Sciencetellers called Race Against Time about two kids who find themselves racing against the clock! Before time runs outs, throw on your labcoat and buckle in - you are about to experience the science of power and energy through several explosive, hands-on experiments that will have you laughing, learning and having fun!
At 2 pm, Dr. Nima Patel will present a valuable program about bag and Backpack Safety just in time for the new school year! In between there will be amazing activities and crafts including Middle School 101 with teens answering kids' questions about middle school and high school; Storytime Special celebrating the new school year; a bee bookmark craft with the Girl Scouts and many more activities!
Don't forget to bring in a school supply for needy school children. For every 5 items you donate you'll get a ticket to win a prize.
On Tuesday at 7 pm, join us for Toilet Paper Olympics for grades 4-6. We'll have games and 'athletic' events. Compete with your friends or against them in the long jump, shot put and relay race with toilet paper. This is a guaranteed blast for all.
The next night, Wednesday at 7 pm we'll present Crafting With Social Media. You'll get creative and explore the ways you can use social media and online resources (plus library materials!) in your arts and crafts. Join us for one of our most popular adult craft programs.
On Sunday at 2:30 we will present Critter Craze: The Diversity of Bugs. It will feature live insects such as tarantulas and cockroaches as well as pinned specimens like butterflies and beetles. When presenting the insects, an entomologist from the Insectropolis Museum in Toms River, NJ, will teach kids about the structure, characteristics, defense mechanisms, classification, and life cycle of bugs. Presented as part of the InQuire Science Series, which "seeks to kindle the spark of scientific investigation in middle school students through presentations and workshops by top STEM professionals."
Have a spectacular week. See you in the Library!
Regards,
