Dear Library Member,

The Home News Tribune has been running its annual Best of the Best contest. The Annual Reader's Choice contest is open for online voting now but it will be over on Friday.  The Old Bridge Public Library won the coveted Best Public Library vote last year and we want to make Old Bridge proud two years in a row.

Click this link to submit your vote now or click on the link in the headline above.  Once you click go to the left side of the People & Services page and scroll down to Public Libraries. You will need to register your email when you cast your ballot so you cannot vote more than once.  Please write in Old Bridge Public Library and help make us the Best of the Best again!

Got songs?  Got harmonies?  Got fun and unbridled enthusiasm? Then you've got The Wag!   Hailing from the Bayshore area of New Jersey, this 4-piece band has been entertaining and moving audiences for almost 20 years but still sounds as fresh as it did on day one!   With 3 alternating lead vocalists, catchy melodies, and sophisticated harmonies, they will take you on a journey of pop rock delight!  The Wag will be our Second Saturday Concert performers on Saturday at 2:30 pm.  Please bring a donation for the Food Bank or a school supply donation for needy children.

We are pleased to offer language learning product Rosetta Stone to the community with the help of the New Jersey State Library.  The company's innovative, personalized language and reading programs drive positive learning outcomes in thousands of schools, businesses, government organizations and for millions of individual learners around the world.  You can find Rosetta Stone through Jersey Clicks on our database website page in addition to the Pronunciator language learning service.  Click here to try Rosetta Stone now!

In this free six-week Diabetes Self-Management series, you will learn how to manage symptoms, get started with healthy eating and exercise, communicate effectively with your doctor, manage your fear and anger, and make daily tasks easier.  This workshop is provided by The Middlesex County Office of Health Services, with funding from the Middlesex County Office on Aging.  Tuesdays from 1 pm to 3:30 pm.  Healthy snack and beverage provided.  Register here.

Curious about quinoa?   Fear tofu?   How about enoki mushrooms?  Or even the more ordinary rutabaga?  Now's your chance to find out what these and a few other "exotic" foods taste like.  Also get tips on how to prepare and serve them at Fear Factor Foods on Tuesday at 7 pm. Don't worry ... no bugs or anything really gross like that!  Registration is required.  One adult or teen per registration, please.  This allows us to get an accurate head count and make sure that we have enough supplies for everyone.  Possible food allergens will be used.

Twitter is a social networking tool that's designed for finding and sharing short updates, Twitter is becoming a useful way to find out what's going on with the people and things that matter to you the most. Learn the many ways you can use Twitter to enhance your own life at our Twitter Class on Thursday at 4 pm!

On Thursday at 7pm, there will be a Stress Management for Successful Living program presented by Dr. Ken Freedman, of Freedman Chiropractic Center, LLC in East Brunswick. The session will discuss the three general types of stress and provide tips on how people can safeguard themselves to function better in today's highly stressful world. For over 35 years, Dr. Freedman has provided guidance to children and adults on how to improve the body's ability to self-heal and optimize quality of life. He has served as President of the East Brunswick Advisory Health Council for 25 years and is Chairman of the Middlesex County Health and Wellness Council.  Please join us for this informative and valuable lecture.

Have a spectacular week.  See you in the Library!

Regards,

Nancy Cohen, Library Director
