Dear Library Member,
We are kicking off August with a host of exciting programs this week:
Our six-week "Diabetes Self-Management" session begins on Tues. Aug. 2nd from 1-3:30pm. The program will teach participants how to manage symptoms, communicate effectively with physicians, maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen, and manage fear and anger issues. Classes will continue on Aug. 9, 16, 23, 30 and Sep. 6, 2016; participants must attend all sessions to complete the program successfully. It will be presented by Shailja Mathur M.S. M.Ed., RDN and is sponsored by the Middlesex Country Office of Health Services. Registration is necessary; click here.
Also on Tues. Aug. 2nd, there will be a "What is a Life Coach?" presentation by licensed Life Coach Judi Turkheimer at 7pm. The founder of Color Your Rainbow Coaching, Turkheimer will address how people often benefit from the guidance and support of a mentor to handle the multitude of choices and stresses of everyday life. She will also provide insight as to what to expect from such a life coach.
Cupcake mania comes to the Library on Thurs. Aug. 4th at 7pm as we host our version of "Cupcake Wars." Kids in grades 6-12 will decorate cupcakes to best fit the theme in the allotted time. Everybody wins since we all get cupcakes! While this program is currently full, interested kids can reserve a spot on the waitlist here.
We'll be offering a family craft on Sat. Aug. 6th at 2:30pm -- Create Your Own Wearable Art. Bring a plain, white T-Shirt and use one of our patterns or dream up your own. Children under age 5 must be accompanied by an adult during the program.
To celebrate the start of the summer Olympics, we will host a Library Olympics on Sun. Aug. 7th at 2pm. Kids ages 7-12 are invited to compete in games and a scavenger hunt to win the Gold. Space is limited, so registration is required here. And lastly -- our Summer Reading Photography contest continues. Photos must reflect the summer reading themes of " On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!", "Get in the Game. Read" or " Exercise Your Mind." Prizes will be awarded for ages 12 and under; ages 13-17 and ages 18 and up. No more than 2 entries per person, and submissions will be accepted until Aug. 15th. Please see our website for more information. Have a spectacular week. See you in the Library!
