Dear Library Member,

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.  Do your part this week and spread the word to your friends and family about the awesome resources and services your library provides!

Come to the Library on Sunday, April 17 at 1 pm and enjoy the Hudson Shakespeare Company's production of John Cariani's hit play Almost, Maine. On a cold crisp late winter evening, in a town that's almost not on a map, a group of people find love, friendship and unexpected connections in the pleasant little community of "Almost, Maine". This charming quirky comedy is a series of short skits that show different residents and visitors in the span of one night in a town in northern Maine. The Hudson Shakespeare Company tours New Jersey to present Shakespearean and contemporary theater in local communities. Almost, Maine is appropriate for teen and adult audiences.

The Morris Museum is the latest addition to our popular FREE Museum Pass Program thanks to the Friends of the Library.  Located in the Twin Oaks mansion in historic Morristown, the museum boasts a permanent collection of more than 40,000 objects ranging from rocks and minerals to model trains, as well as one of the country's largest collections of mechanical musical instruments and automata. It is also the home of the Bickford Theatre, which presents a variety of plays, concerts, and other performances throughout the year.  The pass admits up to two adults and three children.  Please call 732-721-5600 x5010 to reserve the pass for your visit!

This Maker Monday - Crafting with Recyclables, at 7 pm, we will be creating treasures out of trash to celebrate Earth Day.  Don't worry, the trash will be clean and germ free!  For grades 4 through 6.   Registration recommended.

Do you know the story of Baba Yaga?  What about the friendship between the cat and the rooster?  Come and learn about these and other folk tales from the Ukraine.  After the stories, you'll make a craft. This is one of many efforts brought to you through the Dia grant won by the Library.  For youth grades K-6.

Are you interested in investigating a mystery substance?
Attend this Forensic Analysis Workshop presented by forensic scientist Antoinette Campbell-Thwaites, in which you will be introduced to the career path and job responsibilities of a forensic chemist who performs forensic drug analysis in a laboratory. In addition, perform a hands-on forensic drug analysis to identify the mystery substance. Open to Middle and High School students.

The Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It is a capable little computer which can be used in electronics projects, and for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word processing, browsing the internet, and playing games. It also plays high-definition video.  Sign up here  for Intro to Raspberry Pi class on Sunday at 3.  Learn what a "Pi"  can do for you!

Have a spectacular week.  See you in the Library!

Nancy Cohen, Library Director
