Dear Library Member,

Jon McGoran is the author of the ecological thrillers Drift and Deadout, from Tor/Forge Books, and their sequel, Dust Up, due out April 2016. He is also the author of the novella, After Effects from Amazon's StoryFront imprint. Writing as D. H. Dublin, he is the author of the forensic crime thrillers Freezer Burn, Blood Poison, and Body Trace, from Penguin Books.  We are very pleased to have him speak at the Library on Saturday, April 2 at 12 pm as part of the lecture series of the Garden State Speculative Fiction Writers.  Please come and listen to this fascinating talk.  Mr. McGoran will take your questions at the end.

This week we are also delighted to present two new technology-oriented classes: Canva and Podcasting.

Canva is a free online graphic design app. Drag-and-drop simplicity lets you create gorgeous flyers, infographics, social media banners, and so much more.  Just what you need for your business or school activities.  Monday at 4 pm.  Just drop in.

Explore the basics of sound recording, editing and Podcasting on Wednesday at 7 pm.  Learn about using portable recorders, microphones, and the sound editing software, Audacity.  No registration required.  Just drop in!

In celebration of Youth Art Month, learn about a famous artist and try out their style at our Artist's Studio program on Wednesday at 7:30 pm! This session will focus on Vincent Van Gogh. We'll provide all supplies, but wear clothes you don't mind painting in. For grades 6-12. Register here.

On Friday at 10:30 am Drs. Leonard Somarriba and John Scafidi from ProFysio Physical Therapy will present strategies to manage arthritic knee and hip pain in the program Manage Knee & Hip Pain Without Surgery.  Please join us for this informative session.  No registration required.

Level up at the Library! Enjoy a night of games, treats, crafts and fun.  Join us on Friday at 7 pm at Tweens Night Out: Gaming for kids ages 8-12.  Just drop in.

Listen to Michael Osacky, a certified vintage sports card and memorabilia appraiser, discuss the vintage sports memorabilia industry. Afterwards, he will provide a free verbal appraisal to all attendees who bring in their vintage sports collectibles.  This special program, Vintage Sports Collectibles, is on Saturday at 2 pm.  Free and open to all.

If you have a program topic or presenter you'd like us to have at the Library, please email me at any time.

Don't forget about enrolling your child or teen in Book Buddies!  It starts on April 5.  Your teen will earn community service hours helping a child practice their reading skills.  Signup forms are at the Youth Services desk.  Call 732-721-5600 x5028 for more information.

Have a wonderful week.  See you in the Library!
