| New carpeting in the Library! |
|
Dear Library Member,
Thank you to all who came to the Library this past week for your patience as our carpeting project got underway. As you can see from the picture above, the Library is taking on a new and beautiful look which will continue over the next few weeks. This week new carpet will be laid in The Living Room area, the public computer area and may continue into the Teen Zone. Many of the public computers will be unavailable for a day or two this week as well as the public printer. However, we will be setting up other computers in another part of the Library. These will allow access to the Internet and other applications. Our wireless network will never be down so your mobile and tablet devices will always be operational in the Library. Thanks very much for your patience with temporary inconveniences as this project continues.
Even with the challenges of carpeting, there is some great programming this week. In addition to Idea Farm Scratch Coding with the MaKey MaKey, Safety, Intro to 3D, Sewing, Vinyl Cutter Decal, and Maker Monday classes we have the following great programs:
- Understanding Standardized Test Scores, Thursday at 7 pm. Lori M. Gaines, Esq. will discuss standardized test scores and the need to compare results over time to assess progress being made.
- Gaming Club. For grades 4-12 on Thursday at 7 pm. Parents- a great program for your family while you attend the standardized test scores talk. Kids and Teens- bring in handheld games or collectible card games to battle or trade. Make friends and discover a new game each month.
- Self-Publishing on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Have you written a novel, created a series of photographs or other artwork, or wanted to turn your blog into a book? Explore the possibilities offered by self-publishing and print-on-demand (POD) services. This event will provide an overview of the self-publishing process and offer a selection of tips and tricks to help you develop an author platform and get your work noticed.
- Adult Coloring on Saturday at 2 pm. Come and enjoy a relaxing and creative session of coloring for adults.
- Ancient Olympics on Saturday at 2 pm. Before the modern Olympic Games occur this summer, learn about their ancient predecessors through the art of the ancient Greeks. You'll explore how this religious event in southern Greece developed over the course of 1,100 years and see how it helped draw the Greek city-states together.
Have a spectacular week. See you in the Library!
