Dear Library Member,

It's my pleasure to announce that the central Library will be receiving new carpeting in the very near future.  On Monday, February 15, the carpeting project is set to start with the lobby and front entrance areas of the Library.  We're beginning on a day the Library is closed so you will not be inconvenienced by workers and materials. While we will remain open during the weeks it will take to complete the project, some services and resources may be unavailable for short periods of time while shelving and furniture are moved around.  We will keep you informed of major service disruptions through signs in the building, our website, this newsletter, and other mechanisms such as OBTV.  We apologize for any inconvenience but we're sure you'll love the new look and feel the carpeting will give the Library!

We have a special treat for this coming Second Saturday's concert at 2:30 pm.  The Odessa Klezmer Band, under the direction of Ed Goldberg, brings the joyous dance music of the Klezmorim (Jewish folk musicians) to mainstream America. The band has been playing Klezmer music since 1984, celebrating the great variety and wealth of heritage  of  Eastern European, Latino, and Middle Eastern music, including polka and  czardas! You will find yourself rocking in your seat to this joyous music!  Thanks to the Friends of the Library for sponsorship.  Thanks to the Old Bridge Education Association for the delicious refreshments.

As part of Libraries Love You Month, the Library will offer fine forgiveness to Old Bridge Public Library cardholders for Old Bridge-owned materials on Fine Forgiveness Fridays, 2/12, 2/19 or 2/26.  You will receive up to $10 in fine forgiveness one time on one of these Fridays.  Pick your Friday and come to the Circulation Desk to have fines forgiven.  We hope this will help make it easier for you to use the Library's resources!

A few of the many other exciting activities this week:

  • Resume and Interview Seminar on Tuesday from 10-12 pm.  Learn what employers actually want in a resume and what they expect in an interview. This seminar will be presented by Garret Gega of the Middlesex County Department of Workforce Development.
  • Learn about and experiment with Chromebooks, new, inexpensive computers that use Google's software and services.  Wednesday at 7 pm.
  • Don't know how to sew? No problem.  Make a pillow using knots!  No-Sew Pillow Craft for grades 4-6 on Tuesday at 7 pm.

Watch out for unannounced giveaways this week- we love our patrons!

Have a spectacular week.  See you in the Library!

Regards,
Nancy Cohen, Library Director
