Dear Library Member,

Even if you've never heard of  jazz guitarist B.D. Lenz it's very possible you've heard his music before - it's been featured on hundreds of TV shows around the globe. He's released eight CDs of his unique brand of jazz which fuses virtuoso musicianship with expert songwriting. Joining B.D. will be James Rosocha (bass) and Joe Falcey (drums).  Together, this trio will keep you entertained with their eclectic mix of jazz standards, original music, and pop classics.  Saturday, January 9 at 2:30 pm.  Free. Open to all.

New on Monday evenings at 7 pm, Maker Monday encourages creativity, experimentation  and STEM skills in keeping with Common Core and the current maker movement.  Each month will be a different theme with each Monday devoted to a different age group.  This Monday, January 4, ages 5-8 will make glove monsters.  Don't have a glove? No worries! We'll have some on hand with other supplies.

Calling all Sneewt! Celebrate Backwards Day at the beginning of January instead of the end! Wear something backwards. Learn to read backwards. Join us as we do things the "wrong" way.  This is a tweens-only (grades 4-6) event!  Tuesday from 7 to 8 pm.

Let's get creative and explore the ways you can use social media and online resources (plus library materials!) in your arts and crafts.  Join us on Friday from 2:30 to 3:30 pm  for Crafting with Social Media in the Computer Lab for some hands-on fun and tech learning.

Assemble all minions to our Minion Mania Party for grades 4 to 6!  You will be making your own minions, snacking on minion themed food, BANANAS, as well as some other goodies and celebrating the minion life.  Will you be recruited for a new Gru scheme?  Friday from 7 to 8 pm.

On Sunday, January 10 at 2 pm don't miss our program Travel Tips for Adults.  A representative from AAA will speak about travel preparations to make travel easy.  Get ready for spring travel with this program and then use our Passport services!

Also on Sunday, at 3 pm, we have Cloud Computing class.  What exactly is the cloud? Learn practical uses, how it can impact what you do, and how to set up a cloud account for personal and small business environments.

Best wishes for a spectacular 2016.  See you in the Library!

Regards,
Nancy Cohen, Library Director
