Thanks to all of your votes in the Home News Tribune's 2015 Readers Choice contest, the Old Bridge Public Library has been voted the Best Public Library in Middlesex County! On Monday at 7 pm, Adam B. Sklar, Esq, a local attorney who has handled over 300 adoptions, will discuss the ins and outs of adopting a child. This will be an invaluable program for those thinking of adopting a child and in need of straight-forward information.
On Wednesday at 7pm, come to our Stress Management program and learn simple, easy and effective practices to live a stress free life. Deep relaxation, self-awareness, meditation and other techniques will be presented to de-stress, sleep soundly and overcome fatigue. With holidays coming up soon, these tips can keep you grounded.
Why should kids have all the fun? Get together with other adults and explore your creative side with a fun and crafty project. A different project will be presented each month! On Friday at 11 am you will use paper and stencils to make decorative fall wreaths. Please register here.
After you're finished with the craft program on Friday, come to our Blogging class at 2:30 pm. Blogs have become a popular way for people to share opinions, experiences and passions. Learn all about blogs and how to start one of your own with this tutorial. Register here. This is another new class offered by the Library. Later in the month take the Online Swaps class and our Twitter class.
Dr. Michael Norris will present a lecture and immerse attendees in the history and lore of sailing the high seas on Saturday, November 7 at 2 pm. You'll learn that ocean traveling wasn't as luxurious as it is today. Dr. Norris is an art educator formerly with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has lectured all over the world.
The Library is particularly pleased to present a lecture and demonstration on Sunday, November 8 at 2 pm on kuchipdi dance. Dancer, Varsha Garla, trained in this Indian classical art form, will explain the origins and meanings of individual hand gestures and rhythmic movements performed for thousands of years. Please join us for what promises to be a delightful performance.
Another wonderful speaker is coming to the Library on Saturday, November 7 at noon, courtesy of the Garden State Speculative Fiction Writers. Finding Your Voice in Young Adult Speculative Fiction will be presented by Jennifer Walkup, award-winning author and editor. Jennifer will also be signing copies of her books, Second Verse and This Ordinary Life.
