Dear Library Member,

Exciting news!! The Library will now be open on Sundays in July and August this summer!  Starting on Sunday, July 5, our Central location will be open from 12 pm to 5 pm.  The Library will continue to open at 12 pm on Sundays even after the summer is over!  As always, we look forward to serving you.

Each day in the United States and Canada 43,000 pints of donated blood are used.  Healthy adults who are at least 17 years old, and at least 110 pounds may donate about a pint of blood every 56 days, or every two months, depending on iron levels. At some point we will all know a friend, neighbor, family member, or co-worker who needs a blood transfusion. In fact, 1 out of 3 people will need blood in their lifetime. From natural disasters to unforeseen catastrophes, emergency hospital procedures to life-long battles with chronic diseases such as sickle cell, the demand for blood is constant. The supply is not. And since there is no substitute, only volunteer blood donors can roll up their sleeves and save lives. Why not donate your blood at the Library this Wednesday, June 10 from 1-6:45 pm?  Refreshments will be provided.

Vocalist, trumpeter and lecturer, Gordon James, will

play and discuss music from Broadway musicals and films from the 30's to the 60's.  Smoothjazz.com has referred to him as one of the "smooth Jazz elites on trumpet & flugelhorn." Gordon James has been categorized with other Jazz heavyweights such as: Chris Botti, Rick Braun & Greg Adams. Stylistically, he has been compared to: Chet Baker, Miles Davis & Chuck Mangione. Celebrate great American music and culture with this informative and inspiring program on Saturday, June 13 at 2:30 pm.

On Friday, June 12 at 7 pm there will be a class on how to manage your digital photos.  This class will be useful for people who have taken a large amount of photos or just a few and would like to learn how to send them to friends and relatives.  It will also cover downloading photos to various devices and uploading them to the cloud for sharing through services such as Dropbox.  No registration required.

The ever popular Pokémon franchise started 20 years ago. It has given risen to Pokémon card games, films, and soundtracks.  Come this Thursday, June 11 at 7 pm and bring your Pokémon games.  Have a fun night playing Pokémon games with your friends and battling to see who wins!  For grades 4 through 12.

On Saturday, June 13 at 2pm, we will be offering a Sensory Storytime designed for children with special needs, ages 3-7.  Space is limited to 12 children. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and registration is required. When registering, please provide us with any nformation that can help us make this storytime a success for your child.

Have a wonderful and safe week and see you in the Library.

Regards,
Nancy Cohen, Library Director
