This Week at Your Library: March 9
|
Dear Library Member,
Tired of all the ice and snow? Come to the Library this Saturday, March 14 at 2:30 pm and warm your soul listening to one of the best concerts we have planned for this year! The music and story of Les Paul, pioneer of the solid body electric guitar (so vital to rock and roll), will be presented by Tom Doyle, one of Les Paul's key proteges. Sandy Doyle will pay tribute to Mary Ford, the other half of the famous Les Paul/Mary Ford duo. Guaranteed to be a great show!
Great news for our many current and aspiring sewing enthusiasts! Starting on Monday, March 9 at 7 pm, one of our expert sewing volunteers will be teaching weekly classes on sewing basics. Each Monday at 7 pm you can just drop in to learn the basics of operating a sewing machine, sewing tips and sewing techniques. These classes will help you learn to sew like a pro. This is an Idea Farm makerspace initiative to help our community explore, learn and create. This is Teen Tech Week! Join us Wednesday night at 7 pm to construct hemp bracelets, necklaces and other jewelry. On Thursday at 7 pm use our equipment and supplies to make your own personalized buttons from discarded books! Create your own unique designs to wear proudly! Would you like to learn how to cook, bake, create your own web site, sell and buy on eBay, master digital photography, paint, take computer or GED classes and learn so much more in the comfort of your own home? Sound too good to be true? Well, it's all true and very possible with the Library's free online resource, Universal Class. Go to our databases page at www.oldbridgelibrary.org or call one of our librarians at the number above for a personal explanation of this enriching resource. Last but far from least, our Book Buddies program still has openings available for youth readers and teen volunteers. Starting on April 7, this fun program encourages reading, and helps raise comprehension levels by pairing youth with teen reading volunteers. Registration forms are available at our Youth Services desk or from our website on the Kids and Teens pages. This is another way to help your child succeed on the PARCC test. Speaking of PARCC, take advantage of the Library's many PARCC study guides today! Enjoy the rising temperatures this week! See you in the Library. Regards,
