This Week At Your Library: June 2

The Idea Farm Launches June 7th, 1pm-3pm |
A few items to bring to your attention this week.
- Help us spread the word! One of our largest and most ambitious projects this year is our Idea Farm workshop and demonstration garden. We have a Launch Event this Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. The Idea Farm is a community space for creating and sharing skills; if focuses on three main areas that the community expressed an interest in: gardening, kitchen arts, and new technologies. Come down this Saturday and see the tools and technologies available for the public to use, sign up for upcoming classes and demonstrations, and get involved with our community cookbook project!
- One of our most popular online class topics has been language learning, and we are pleased to announce we will be offering an even more useful language learning service to the public: Pronunciator. Pronunciator offers 80+ languages for English and non-English speakers. Pronunciator is approproate for toddlers and up thanks to photos and pictograms. It offers thousands of downloadable phrasebooks and up to 350 hours of downloadable audio lessons. In addition, Pronunciator is geared to language learning for non-English speakers - simply choose from a a range of native languages when you choose the language you want to learn. For ESL students, Pronunciator lets you choose from 50 non-English languages as a starting point for English mastery. We hope that language students make use of Pronunciator, a free service if you access it through out website with your library card.
- Thanks to some new teen volunteers, Monday Kid's Chess Club is back! Kids up to 5th Grade can come down Mondays at 4:30pm and play chess!
In closing I would like to thank Eagle Scout Candidate Kyle K. and his Boy Scout Troop, the Old Bridge Community Garden Steering Committee, the Society Hill Garden Club, the Friends of the Library, and State Library, and the Schulmeister Greenhouse for helping make the Idea Farm a reality.
We really hope that if you are reading this you will stop by and learn more about our Idea Farm plans this Saturday!
Regards,

With a library you are free, not confined by temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one - but no one at all - can tell you what to read and when and how.
