Library Week Is Coming! Lives Change @ The Library

Next week, the Old Bridge Public Library joins libraries nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the unique role of the American library.

The Old Bridge Public Library serves our community by providing book and media collections, e-books, digital magazines, databases, technology classes, clubs, meeting space, and many other services to connect our members to their needs and dreams, and create a more informed citizenry.

From April 13 to April 19, the Library will be celebrating National Library Week; this year's theme is Lives Change @ the Library. We want to hear from our community on how libraries impact your lives. Tell us about the library you grew up using, or the one you've enjoyed the most. We hope it's us, but every library is a place where stories are born. I'll tell you my library story next week!

There are a number of ways you can take part:

  • If you are in the Library next week, pick up a "speech bubble" at our public desks and tell us your library story.  You can also download the speech bubble form directly from this newsletter or from our web site next week.
  • You can also send us your thoughts on Facebook, Twitter (@OldBridgePL) and Pinterest pages using #OldBridgePL as a hashtag.
  • Snap a library selfie that tells your story & post it.

At the end of National Library Week we will spotlight some of the best stories we receive in the Library's e-newsletter.  All forms submitted will be on display in the Library, though with personal information removed.

Regards,
Darren Miguez, Library Director

"My mother and my father were illiterate immigrants from Russia. When I was a child they were constantly amazed that I could go to a building and take a book on any subject. They couldn't believe this access to knowledge we have here in America. They couldn't believe that it was free."
